common sense in the sudan.?
why is it that a country struggling through poverty and drought ( and need i say it ) civil war --- would be so paraniod about an english woman helping children in a 'third' world status to a better life --- only for that woman to be chastised to the point of " stupidity "
if the people of sudan are so ' smart ' then they should have no need for a western woman to teach their children .
people in these countries ( for the sudan are not alone ) want ; or indeed , beg for the world to help -- just so long as you don't offend --- and where there is a fine line in respect of the country's culture --- it is beyond belief that 5,6,7 year olds , know much about a teddy named mohammed , bill , joe , allah , fred etc, etc .
sudan needs to get it's priorities on track and be grateful for " real" people --- it's that or simply find your own teachers !!!
chewy on your boot !!!

There's a reason nothing of cultural, artistic, philosophical, or scientific value ever came from Sudan. This is it. You cannot teach an entire isolated nation the science of critical thinking if they're not interested. You can't superimpose a veneer of modern society on a people whose base assumptions about the way the world works were sort of backward 1000 years ago.

I live overseas. I think the woman is an idiot knowing what is going on in Sudan. She deserves what she gets. There are plenty of countries where things like this are a reality. If you insult the King of Saudi Arabia, Thailand, or some other countries by naming a doll after him you would have problems.
I recommend that every US and British School name their class stuffed dog Jesus. That would do a lot of good for the world I bet. Try looking at it from the perspective of just being plain sensible.
I don't support the government of Sudan or any religion. Personally I think most world leaders should be hung.
To remind you of my original point, the lady is as dumb as a doorknob.

I can see the outrage of the followers of the teachings of Mohammed. But I am confused about why they are so inconsistent. If it is wrong to name an inanimate object after the prophet, why is it not wrong to name a child after the prophet?
Shouldn't these same reactionary, self-appointed guardians of the sanctity of the prophet also be wanting to kill the children named Mohammed? And also kill the parents who were so arrogant as to name their unworthy offspring after the prophet? Is this not also taking the prophet's name in vain?
Perhaps many of the rioters are named Mohammed, and therefor they are already besmirching the name of Allah's prophet.

The sentence she received was abit over the top. It was a mistake on her behalf, but she didn't deserve the time of sentence she received. Maybe something along the lines of an apology to the school and the students parents would have been sufficient.

Since they have so much faith in the Prophet, why don't we stop the millions of $$$$ in aid we hemorrhage to them each year and see if the Prophet will feed them, clothe them, house them, water them, cure them and all the rest of it. If i had the power i would do just that.
Ungrateful bunch of savages.
