Should we institute a Law to allow Muslim Employees to take a hours off from work for Friday Jummah Prayer.?

Update:

QUESTION: What are issues and recommendations for solutions that are unique to Muslim Americans?

1. A Law against harrassment of a Muslim women wearing Hijab at the Airport, DMV and other public arenas.

2. Institute a Law to allow Muslim Employees to take a hours off from work for Friday Jummah Prayer.

3. Make the 2 Eid's, recognized National Holidays on Calendars with days off from work.

4. Optional Halal meals in federal buildiings, public schools and colleges.

5. Provide prayer areas suitable for Salah and Jummah, in public and private facilities. (i.e. Malls, Airports, Universities and government buildings.)

6. Organize a Muslim American group to assist in recommendations for US foreign policy affecting majority Muslim countries.

oh certainly. And hey, while we're at it, since carrying a 9 inch razor sharp Berber knife is required of all muslim males as part of their religion, let's enact a law that says it's okay for them to take their KNIVES on board any airline. But why stop there? Let's also make it a law to execute anyone who offends them for naming their toys the wrong name. In fact, let's form a committee and call it The Committee to Live On Our Knees. Would THAT SATISFY YOU?

    1. A Law against harrassment of a Muslim women wearing Hijab at the Airport, DMV and other public arenas.

Define Harrassment - Are they asking you to remove anything more than anyone else? For example - a hat vs Hijab.

    2. Institute a Law to allow Muslim Employees to take a hours off from work for Friday Jummah Prayer.

Only if I can take time off for Passion Week, Advent services.

    3. Make the 2 Eid's, recognized National Holidays on Calendars with days off from work.

Do I get those days off too?

    4. Optional Halal meals in federal buildiings, public schools and colleges.

OK - I have no issue, as long as there are kosher meals too.

    5. Provide prayer areas suitable for Salah and Jummah, in public and private facilities. (i.e. Malls, Airports, Universities and government buildings.)

The moment they build me a prayer room, and make sure there is holy water availible for Catholics, I'll support this

    6. Organize a Muslim American group to assist in recommendations for US foreign policy affecting majority Muslim countries.

Sure, when they create a Catholic American group for recommendations of US foreign policy affecting the Vatican and mostly Catholic country or an Irish American group for US policy affecting Ireland, how 'bout a Buddhist group for US policy affecting majority Buddhist countries

Oh and are the Muslim countries going create a Christian group for their policies that affect us? (since they do thing everyone here is Christian...and mostly Catholic at that)

    I'm for Hillary myself but...

    1. This should be illegal anyways, regardless of religion. I say that in a very firm tone.

    2. Not really necessary because employers are required to uphold freedom of religion, and any employer will allow you an hour or so break. Although in some cases you may be responsible for a replacement for that time, or to pick another day to make up the time taken off. Still not a problem.

    3. Again, employers should and usually will grant the two Eids off (especially since Muslims are willing to work on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, New Years, etc) but I do think it would be nice to have a nationally recognized holiday. Oh, and it would benefit students also who often cannot get these two days off.

    4. Halal is working on getting to be as prominent as kosher, although kosher is permissible for us so it's almost overkill to struggle for everything halal.

    5. Already being implimented. JFK has a mosque, and most universities have mosques, or Muslim student associations that provide means for Muslims to pray. I still support it though.

    6. Absolutely agree with this. There aren't enough out there who know or understand our religion enough to represent us, and since we are just as American as the next Joe Somebody, we deserve fair representation as well.

I think some people shoot for too much and take advantage of liberties and privileges unnecessarily. I do support rights for Muslims in America, just as I support rights for anyone anywhere. But don't go too far.

You are actually asking that an Islamic State be set up within the un-Islamic State of the USA.

Jummah is not a Sabbath and the Muslim should make his own time, outside of the working of non-Muslim employers, to attend Jummah prayer, if he has to.

The Muslim is not told that he should beg for favours from the non-Muslim power and if he does he is not being Muslim.

Allah tells the Muslim how to behave in the un-Islamic state and how he should adjust his prayer and his life until he is free to live as a Muslim in an Islamic state.

Quran commands too many good deeds that Muslims ignore and even their fast is not done according to the Quran.

There is no Islamic state in the World today and Muslims who migrate do so for the wrong reasons and this must be why they have found themselves having to beg to be allowed to pray in an un-Islamic World.

The hijab has its purpose and that is worn for Allah and not to hide the faults of the Muslim boys who have not grown to be men because they concentrate on control of the women and their children and have rejected the trust that Quran places on the Muslim husband and father.

Muslims who beg for political favours do so because they fear man more than they fear Allah.

    ALLAHUAKBARR!

one million. There are already legislation prohibiting discrimination on any relegious foundation, so this one isn't even wanted, simply the clerks have to be knowledgeable, and for saftey, we have to see individuals, so normally the hijab have to come off. two. No,instituting one of these legislation could create a defacto endorsement of a faith. three. No, we have already got too many federal vacation's. Every fed. vacation expenses the federal government (us) thousands of greenbacks. Police get additional time pay, firefighters, janitors, and so on, and so on. In reality we must get rid of a few we have already got. four. Leave the foods as much as the meals carrier providers. Most federal constructing rent the cafeteria house to a 3rd occasion, as a consequence, if the call for is top ample, those precise foods might be created. five. Should we present alters, confessionals, and so on? No. 6. I could be amazed if this sort of committee does no longer already exsist. If it does no longer, then I agree, it could be a well inspiration.

Requirement to jump off the Empire State Building on Saturday between the hours of 9-12 would be nice.

You need to go back to a Muslim country if you want this.

If Obama is for changing American this way, why would any American vote for him. Muslim countries are horrible places to live.

No we should not institute any of them. Christians often have to work on Sunday and other Christian religious holidays.

The Constitution allows you to practice your religion. It does not say the "State" has to conform to meet the whims of any or all religions.

    What makes them special?

No. Especially when their prayers includes killing everyone who is not muslim!!

We better be praying that Obama is not our next president, unless you wont Hezoballoh as thou neighbor!!!!

No. No employer should be forced to accomodate someone's religious practices. They can do so if they choose to. You are asking to be treated specially. Don't come to another country and demand it to change to fit your belief system.
