I need ideas for clever & cheap costumes?

I'm going to my sororities fall formal and the theme is cops and robbers, but i dont want to same old same old, girl dresses as slutty cop with skirt up her butt, and guy dresses up in tight pants with huge "bulg". I want clever, fun ideas that are original. Please help only serious answers please

    you could dress up as a knight or a old west kind of sheriff... because tehy're like cops

    You should go in totally black as a robber and like try to steal peoples stuff just 4 joke!
