Check your batteries!!! Most drugstores carry all the batteries needed for glucometers of all makers.
If this is a new meter, it may have been sitting on the shelf for a while and the batteries got old.
If you have had the meter for more than a year, get new ones.
I use the daylight savings dates for battery changing! Pick whether you want fall or spring time change and go to drug store on that day for new batteries.
Also check that you are supplying sufficient drop of blood to the strip!! If it doesn't have enough blood it cannot read it. So gives error message.
Call the 1-800 number on the back of the meter and tell them the meter is malfunctioning. In most cases they will overnight a new meter with return pack for old meter. They, most of them, will also overnight new batteries!

call the 1-800-number on the back of the meter. there was a recall of Accu-check avivas early this year/late last year. Even if it's not part of the recal they will probably send you a new one once you describe what it's doing. At the very least they'll send you a new battery. They're customer service is GREAT. I called in for a battery issue back in July. My son uses the Accu-check aviva also. They not only sent me a battery but they sent me an additional meter so I can have a spare just in case. They evern overnighted it. They want you to keep using they're products so they're very accomodating.

In addition to low battery, bad strips, and the other reasons mentioned above, I get error messages when the meter is too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer. The instruction book tells the temperature range, and you can inadvertently get outside the range. In the winter, if you keep the meter near an open window, or keep it in the car in the summer, the meter may not work.

Well, I got together with my fiancee pretty young (15) and we have been together for five years, so I've never had trouble in the dating department. But my gram, who is a psychologist, has read 100's of books about the adolescent mind (and I have read her books too) so I have some advice. 1. Sex. It's everywhere, and (mostly) girls feel the pressure to engage in it. I don't care if you're "in love", or been with the person for over 6 months, etc. It's NOT a good idea to have sex young. Sex is something that doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is something that can also scar a person for life. I'm currently reading a book called "Hooked" that talks about how casual sex among teens can negatively effect a person. Don't give up something as precious as virginity to anyone...wait. 2. Drugs. I will admit, yes I dabbled in them for a little while. Smoking weed, etc. People will try to convince you that "smoking weed isn't bad for you" etc, but don't let all that fool you. It affects you definately. Maybe weed itself doesn't kill, but it can mess you up enough to do something that MAY kill you. Being high alters your decision making and you may end up doing something really dumb. Same thing with alcohol. Yeah it all seems fun, but seriously, no one like a druggy loser. There is a lot of things that kids have to go through these days, and it is unfortunate that teens fall victim of this. And most unfortunately of all, some will never learn.

Agree with all the others. Might also want to check test strips are still in date and code on test strip bottle matches code on machine when turned on

The instructions should give you a telephone number for the manufacturer who should have a helpline. Give them a call.

There can be various reasons. One low battery but then it should show low battery. Other reason is insufficient blood sample.
