Trinity/Bible?

I am LDS and in a lot of the posts people say that if you don't believe in the "Trinity" as seems to be defined in the Nicene Creed you are not Christian. Where in the Bible does it say that you are only a Christian if you believe in the Nicene concept of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost?

Update:

Doug, what about the baptism of Jesus when each of the 3 were described separately, Jesus was the in water, the Holy Ghost decended as a dove and the voice of Heavenly Father came out of heaven. (Matt 3:16) They were each separate and distinct.

What about when Stephen was stoned. He was filled with the Holy Ghost and he saw Jesus on the right hand of God.(Acts 7:55) How can you be on your own right hand side and in someone else at the same time.

Update 2:

Joseph, that verse doesn't say that they are all the very same being.

Update 3:

Jocko, that is what people have told me. They especially use it against the Book of Mormon and prophets. They tell me that if it isn't in the Bible its not truly from God.

Update 4:

Brother M, that is the way I see it. 3 individual Gods with one purpose. But, most religions that I have heard of believe that they are literally 1 God who can show himself in one of 3 ways, but is only one person.

Update 5:

Oregon, I don't know that John 3:16 is describing what a Christian is but it is a wonderful promise. I am LDS and we teach Jesus Christ as the Son or God and Redeemer of the world but, in spite of that promise in John, many "religious" peoplw tell people of my religion that we are going to hell.

Concerning the first two answers, 1John 5:7 is known to be spurious. In other words the whole verse or part of it has been added to the Bible.

Concerning Matthew 28:19, it doesn't by no means prove the trinity.

The trinity doctrine is very contradictory in the Bible. That feature about it alone shows it's not divine.

permit's think of... all and sundry agree the daddy is God, so permit's bypass it away. it is sparkling that Jesus is God (John a million:a million; John 20:28; Acts 20:28; Romans 9:5; Heb a million:6; Titus 2:13; Jude a million:4; Rev a million:17-18; 1ºJohn 5:20; Colos 2:9; etc... etc...) The Holy Spirit is God too. he's as a results of the fact... he's omniscient (1ºCor 2:10); he's omnipresent (Psalm 139:7); he's eternal (Hb 9:14). Peter spoke of as him God (Acts 5:3-4). Paul pronounced God stay interior our physique (1ºCo 3:sixteen) and he pronounced it is the Holy Spirit who dwells in our physique (1ºCo 6:19). He additionally spoke of as the Holy Spirit God, subsequently. Jesus commaned a baptism in only one call for 3 people in this call (Mat 28:19). John improve into extra sparkling: "For there are 3 that bear witness in heaven: the daddy, the be conscious, and the Holy Spirit; and those 3 are one". (1ºJohn 5:7 - kjv). Paul additionally made it sparkling by ability of the trinitarian blessing: "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the affection of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen". (2º Cor 13:14). Bellow you have some verse the place you notice Father, Son and Holy Spirit working jointly for mankind salvation... Titus 3:4-6; 1ºPeter a million:a million-2; John 14:sixteen; Rev a million:4-5; Jude a million:20-2; Mat 3:sixteen-17. some people say the trinity is from Nicea, although that's a super LIE. The Fathers os church in the past 325 d.C spoke with regard to the trinity. Irenaeus (a hundred twenty five-202aD); Justin Martyr (a hundred-one hundred sixty five advert) and Clement of Alexandria (one hundred fifty-215 advert) are stable examples. Clement pronounced Christ is "quite deity completely manifested". Justin testified the Holy Spirit improve into worshiped by ability of the persons.

The triune God is very Biblical.

Mat 3:16 And having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water. And, behold! The heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God coming down as a dove, and coming upon Him.

Mat 3:17 And behold! A voice out of the heaven saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have been delighting.

We see Christ Jesus, God in flesh, the "Spirit of God" which is the Holy Spirit, and we hear the voice of God the Father from Heaven. Three distinct beings, yet all divine. So, either you have to remove the divine nature from one or more of these, or, as your faith teaches, there are multiple gods, polytheism.

  • Those that qoute those scripts like that do so because they can not answer for themselves and think that text that we all know is written my man and in his viewpoints so of course the Nicene creed would say that, just as Born agains think only they will be raptured which mean guess what Nicenes....THATS NOT YOU ACCORDING TO THEM! see my point?

Each of the Christian faiths esp the extreme fundamentalist have very narrow my view is the only one and there is no room for error or difference of view so pretty much every other faith is telling all the others that they are correct and all the others are wrong and they will go to Hell or what ever realm they believe in.

Make sense? The Muslims and Jews and Pagans and Atheists and Agnostics definately do not believe in the Trinity and they have no fear. Most Christians who are Catholic, or Protestants also do not care what the Nicene think. They are entitled to their view but that is it, for it does not make them correct nor wrong. it is just their opinion. We rest happen to disagree with them. That too is good.

    hope that helped.

The concept of Trinity was a misinterpretation by religious leaders to confuse the masses with some great unsolvable mystery about God. Of course, if one reads the bible carefully, one will discover two seperate entities, the Almighty God Jehovah, or Yahweh, and his son Jesus, or Yeshua. The Holy spirit is God's active force that he uses to enact his divine will. Kind of like the force in Star Wars, but much more powerful.

A good example of seperation of God and Jesus was when Jesus was being crucified. He cried out, "Father....why have thou forsaken me?" Why would he do this if he was God incarnate? It does'nt make sense.

For all you Trinity believers....the three musketeers called out, "all for one and one for all." Yet, were they not 3 seperate men with one purpose? The divine is not that different from this, so please....read the Bible.

It doesn't say that word for word, dear one. But we are taught in God's Word that God is manifest in 3 ways.

What is QUITE clear is what a Christian IS. And that is explained in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

It also explains that one cannot enter heaven unless he is born again. Meaning having God's spirit living in him. And that happens when one accepts Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment IN FULL for our sins. There is no other way to spend eternity with Christ. He said it, Christians believe it and that settles it.

    God bless!

Be aware that nowhere in the Tanakh, errantly called the Old Testament, does anything like the trinity concept appear.

    G-D is ONE.

Christianity hinges its trinity doctrine purely on the written arguments of the new testament. That's not much to go on, as doctrines go...

I don't know what the LDS church teaches on the matter of trinity to compare.

    How does this sound... :-)

    Romans 16:17 - Romans 16:19

17I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. 19Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.

Edit.. check out Rev. Chapters 4 and 5.. Notice anything??

You are saved when you believe on the name of Jesus who died as a sacrifice for our sin. He reconciled himself(God) to us through Jesus, who was God in the flesh.. When we are baptized We are baptized in the named of the Father, the son and the Holy Ghost.

1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

    Doug, these three are one....what?

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Joseph, this just seems to me to negate the Nicene "trinity", since it mentions THREE, not ONE.
