GE Stove (Oven Doesn't Work) Burners do Model# JB940AY1?
Ok a friend of a friend has a stove that was imported like most everything else in his house lol. The stove is a GE that was imported from where I don't know the model number is listed above.
The burners on top of the stove work but the oven burners or elements won't come on. I'm a mechanic not an electrician but I can replace parts so any real repair guy out thier have any help.

Above is the parts for the stove. I don't know the mehanics of how each component operates if I did I wouldn't need to ask what in the circuit or the system that turns on the burners in the stove like a relay or something.
As far as I can tell looking through the links above I think it would be the OVN CNTL ERC as both burners won't come on and the odds of both going out at the same time?
What from the OVN CNTL ERC down to the oven burners would be bad or is in the circuit that turns them on and off.
High resistance would mean the element is good, infinite resistance indicates a broken element. I don't think both top and bottom would go out at the same time.

Yes, the ERC is probably the problem.
The only other part I would chech is the Logic Switch.
It is a micro switch that tells the ERC if the door is latched or open. By latched I mean in self clean mode. It's just a little NO (normally open), NC (normally closed) micro switch, and they do stick sometimes. If you look at the blowapart diagram it is located on the self clean door latch.

yes, a dirty ignitor is most likely the culprit; the same thing happened to my gas stove. I found generic how-to instructions on the net which showed me how and where to access the ignitor, (most gas stoves are assembled the same)...I followed the instructions, pulled and cleaned/brushed my ignitor and while i was in there, i also brushed off the oven burner itself, to remove the built-up soot and other accumulated debris, that fixed my problem and took less than 10 mins to do it. My stove(not a GE) had thumbscrews in the oven compartment holding the bottom plate in place. Once screws and metal plate were removed, I had full access to the burner and ignitor, really simple for me, hope its the same for you.

Check your oven baking timer. There should be a reset button near the oven controls. Its either this or the oven control. Good luck!

replace the heating element inside the oven. make sure you turn the power to the stove off first. if that doesn't work, its an internal wiring problem.

heating element in the oven propbaly open, remove it and check with an ohmmeter, should be fairly low resistance
