What do I do for a garge door (has opener) that sticks on the tracks?
I have tried WD40 but tends to freeze up and still not let the door glide up with ease. Is there anything I can grease the tracks with? What good is a garage door opener if I have to get out to push the door up??
Thanks Maint. Man
No bends in the tracks...just sticks (more so when it's cold)
The opener is a fairly NEW opener (had it for 4 years), the door is a lighter or new door...it works great in the summer, just when it gets cold it sticks, thanks for any advice you are giving me...

Is the opener cutting out? Most openers have a force adjustment screw on them. This is what keeps the door from closing if it hits something. we kinda need more info. is it a chain drive, screw, or belt drive? How old is the opener? is it an old door (solid wood and Heavy) or a new steel (light) door? If it is something that can be fixed you can fix it and it should be a easy fix, we just need to know a little more about the door...

make sure the springs arent broke on door, If they are replace them, it will wear out opener faster. Do not use WD 40 it evaporates then causes rust. Use some lube by the Fehr Brothers, or just plain old 30w motor oil. use it on hinges and rollers. Disconnect door from openr and make sure it works easily by hand. You may have to adjust forces like others said.

may also check the rollers they may not be to ridgid in the track and in cold weather metal shrinks pulling rollers against the track, rollers should move in and out plus roll
