I halfed my RAM instead of doubling it???
My old celeron 800MHz computer only had 128MB of RAM. I bought a new matching 128MB card to put in slot 2, then suddenly it won't boot (long beeps instead). so i take out the 2nd card I just added, still won't boot. I take out the old one and put just the new one in, still won't boot. In fact the ONLY RAM config it will now accept is a 64MB card i grabbed out of another computer. Holy heck I wish I had never tried to double it!!!

Strange problem... try popping the original 128MB stick back in and then resetting the CMOS. To do this, you need to find a set of three pins that have a plastic terminator (not sure of the correct term :) over them. You remove this, turn the power on, wait 10 seconds and the power off and pop the terminator back on the pins again.
If you cant find the CMOS reset, you'll get better instructions than mine in the original manual that shipped with the PC or maybe on the net.

Sounds as though a possible memory conflict is occurring. What type of memory did your purchase, and what model computer are you using (if it is from an OEM company like Dell or HP)? I wonder if your computer only takes PC100 memory and you are trying to install PC133 (or something like that).
