Do you think that religion enhances our lives? or do you think it does more hindering?

I keep riding the fence on this one and just can't come to a decision. Does religion ultimatly enhance our lives? Every good feeling and honest action I make, is it a result of practicing religion? But on the other hand does all of my guilt and misfortune come from the constant worry or struggle to practice religion?

One or the other, Do you think that religion enhances our lives or hinders our lives? and.. WHY.. I can't get around thinking so "biasedly"...

Its an intelligent question, I am not sure if you will receive rights answers - if I have to pass my own opinion "Religion is always good" but it always a problem when time to implement and follow it specially where "ignorance and arrogance" takes a place! Secularism attempted to substitute religion to another format of life-style but see where we are heading now...sense of humour disappeared in the world!

If you feel like you have an option then your religion isn't very good. Religion isn't suppose to be easy. Giving up is easy. Be an atheist if you don't want to worship God. I wouldn't suggest it though but that's only because I believe. Why do I believe? Because I've always believed and in doing so I have been gifted with a sight to see that God is real. Do you think most people will believe me? They'll think I'm nuts. Watch how many thumbs down I get. This world is going to hell is a hand basket. But the bible says it will. That's why I just deal with it. It's just another test. When we all die. If there are any winners. I might be one of them. But people who talk down about God and about people like me who have faith...they'll have less of a chance. Wouldn't you think?

Religion enhances the lives of billions of people around the world.

A religious belief can make hard times easier, difficult work less difficult, good times richer, families closer, etc. etc. It can nudge a person to do the right thing when he's wavering, comfort a person when he's grieving, give him courage when he's afraid, and so forth.

The thing to keep in mind is not everybody practices a religion, and those people can and do find ways to be as resilient, strong, moral and loving as do people who are helped along by their beliefs.

Like most things, it's about what you put into it. Religion can immensely enrich your life, or it can drag you down. It all depends on your outlook.

I'd also venture to guess that you'd still have guilt over not doing things regardless of religion. That's just a part of being a grown-up. You worry if you're spending enough time with the kids, your spouse, manicuring your lawn, is your house clean enough? Those things have little to do with religion.

Religion is for lazy, irresponsible people. I like science and I believe eventually science will be able to explain everything, even if it is not in our lifetime. Religious people will take the easy way out, anything they can't explain, they simply say it's God will or God plan and be done with it. Another thing is I will take responsibility for my own action, good or bad. Religious people will say that Jesus died to take away all their sins, how convenience and irresponsible. One thousand years from now, when our great great great great great grand children look back and read about how some of us worship an invisible man in the sky, they will laugh out loud at how primitive we are today...

for me personally, I think that a relationship with God enhances my life, but I think that the practice of religion, or just religiosity in general can hinder ones life.

Typically the practice of organized religion has the potential to cause feelings like guilt and obligation that can turn into resentment.

Whereas a relationship with God brings peace and freedom.

I really have to blame people for allowing religion to hinder them. This actually applies to everything. Some people push forward from the bad with positive attitudes while others wallow in their self missery. (And everything in between). I have seen people be set free with religion while others are contained. There are people, with religion, can accept and forgive while others troll through live/forums.

    Depends on the person.
