Gift giving for runners?

Last year my husband started to take his running really seriously and started entering races and training really hard. He has been in a bunch of 5Ks and two half marathons and he is really enjoying himself. What would be a great gift to get him that would aid him in his training? For his birthday and Father's Day I got him a Garmin and a subscription to a running magazine. Do those "Nip-Guard" things work or do bandaids work as well? Also, what can he use for chafing? Thanks.

I am sure he will like some gadgets for running like a gps that gives him mileage. Ipods are nice. Good running socks and shorts. Anything related to running is something that every runner likes to get.

Go to a good running shoe store and ask to look at some things.

As far as the nip guards, band aides or Vaseline works just as well.

My personal opinion would be to give him an Ipod. If he has Nike + running shoes, then you can get him an Ipod Nano which can connect to his shoe. If he doesn't, get him a Shuffle. They are small and affordable. That is what I use, and they work perfectly!

Also, music helps pass time while running.

To avoid chafing, he should wear appropriate clothing. Staying hydrated is also important. If you want to look into the subject, then I suggest you go to my source.

Runners are a fickle lot. They love some equipment (socks, pants, gloves, water bottles, etc.) and hate others, seemingly for no good reason. (I know that's the way my and my friends' preferences seem.)

Find a good local running store (one that has employs area runners, not just a general sporting goods store) and get him a gift certificate. If you don't know any, call a local high school or college and ask the track / cross country coach for a suggestion. Alternatively, try a gift cerfiticate at RoadRunnerSports.com.
