I always go barefoot -contrary to popular belief, it's not dangerous, unhealthy or gross to go without footwear, since feet get quite tough and are fully washable. But I rarely even stepped outside as far as the mailbox, trashcan or bird feeder in socks when I was a kid & would regularly go sockfooted indoors; they'd soak up the water if there was even a little moisture on the pavement, there'd be far more dirt clinging to them than to bare feet (annoying things like pine needles etc, they don't bother my bare feet but they'd cling to socks so I'd drag them indoors). Generally I run such brief outdoor errands in whatever I'm wearing regardless of the weather or conditions but I soon stopped doing that for socks, I would either take them off and run out barefoot or slip on shoes.
Also I think they'd wear out awfully quick? Even indoors my socks were always wearing out and that's on smooth floors and carpet rather than outdoor tile, pavement and cement sidewalks. I'm not saying you shouldn't go sock-footed but it sounds unpleasant and unpractical to me, if I ever were to wear footwear again -which I hope won't be needed but who knows if there's a really bad cold spell some winter- I'll opt for thin but leather-soled mocassins or india(Jesus) sandals or something similar.

I love walking around in my socks. That's what I always do at home. I don't go to public places without shoes, though, because I don't want to ruin my socks.
I will go outside in my socks if I'm just running out to the car or the mailbox though. It's just a quick trip, and once my shoes are off, I don't want to put them back on.

I have been walking in socks for the past year or two. I try to avoid the messiest places outside but if I know I am running errands and won't ruin my socks walking outside I will leave my shoes at home for the day. White tube socks have been the best for my sock-walking experiences!

I like to walk outside in socks, but I hate to wash them later. But, I love the feel of really thick socks inthe house on freshly waxed floors.

Yeah I like walking around in socks. But not on grass and stuff, they get soggy and nasty LOL

I don't go anywhere in just socks. Sometimes to my car in the driveway, but not more than that. I don't want to mess up my socks. :)
