I have been asked to provide a character reference letter ...?

by an ex-gf. We share children and have been good friends for 15 years. My inclination is to keep that side of things out of it and to write it as if I'd just been friends with her for 15 years. What do you guys think. Should I mention the relationship or not?

It is perfectly acceptable to give a character reference for her as a good friend. There is no need to mention the relationship.

A character reference is just like it states.

It is a letter about your perception of the

person's character. Do not mention about

your relationship as far as her being your

ex-girlfriend and having children. You can

mention the fact that you have known her for

    15 years.

    Good Luck!!!

I don't think your relationship has much relevance in this situation - the important thing is that you've known this person very well for the past 15 years. The reference is to describe what type of person she is, not the two of you together.

I am sorry, but its not ethical for her to ask you for a character reference letter. Whoever she is giving this letter to , obviously she is not telling the whole story It will be deceiving untill and unless you can mention about your relationship.

It is completely unnecessary to say anything more than you are friends and have known her for 15 years.

I would leave out the relationship part, since that might be a little awkward for the employer.

It would only be pertinent to add if she was currently your girlfriend. Go ahead with the friends thing.

You could just state as you known her for a long time the proper , respectful, inividual you knew her to be when you knew her, that's all. just the fact's.

better not. character reference is business and thats how it should be..

keep your personal life out of it..

i guess it would be quite unethical if you will.
