Answers deleted?

Has anyone else had their recent answers to questions deleted for no apparent reason? I just lost some really good ones. Is this part of the "upgrade" to Yahoo Answers? (When Yahoo mail "upgraded," I lost five years of saved e-mails, and all tech support could do was ask me if I deleted them myself - you know, because I might have spent an hour or two deleting e-mails that I had been saving intentionally, and forgotten all about it. Or maybe somebody hacked my password and deleted all my e-mails just to piss me off. But am I bitter about it? Of course not!)

Wait, what was my question? Oh yeah - have any of you guys had any of your answers deleted recently, or is it just me?

Update:

EDIT:

Magnetic - I'm not whining about not having my answers picked, I'm saying they were deleted.

Just to clarify - I'm not talking about questions that were deleted, and I'm not talking about lost points. I'm saying I saw a question, I wrote an answer to that question (free of vulgarity and no more offensive than any of my other answers, none of which have been deleted before), and posted that answer. The answer was there for a while, and then it disappeared without a trace, and it's as if it was never there. The question is still there, and when I go to it, the button allowing me to post a new answer is there again.

It's almost like I dreamed answering the question - except when I ran a search for the question the next day, it was there verbatim.

This is why I almost never come here any more. An asker can delete your question for absolutely no good reason--and it's gone forever. That's not what really bugged me, though. My real problem was the people who sought my answers out and reported them--when they weren't offensive to anyone. I think this happens with a particular sub-set of people. I was in the religion section, responding to questions that were blatantly anti-semitic, and trying to do so without rancor. I was targeted by one of the questioners, and he virtually shut me down.

Yahoo doesn't care. The 'appeals' process is a joke. I decided I didn't need the hassle--besides, I used to spend too much time here, anyway. Now I do other things with my time.

I have only seen answers get deleted if they were vulgar, or mean spirited. As for the e-mail thing. I lost over a hundred myself. I usually try to put the ones I want to save, in a folder, about once a month or so. I hadn't gotten to that yet, and woke up one day to find my in-box completely empty. yeah. That p**sed me off, too. Big time.

  • Yes, I answered a couple of questions and when they deleted the questions I lost the points for the answers. Also, if your answer was outside of the guidelines for Y/A you can have just the answer deleted and lose the points. So, just keep them clean and appropriate.

No, but recently I can't delete my mail in my mailbox. I press delete and nothing happens. So IDK WTF is going on. And as far as answers you have to be really careful what you post. Many people and the Yahoo police can't take a joke. My other accounts have been suspended for violations that I say to myself--what the hell did I say that would insult somebody. Its all in fun but people are thin skinned nowadays.

you can lose answers simply if someone disagrees with them, get over it

yahoo answers has a privacy policy that allows people to act without accountability for their actions

people do not actually appear to look at the answers or questions that are asked, they just go with the flow

you can appeal, appeal again, and again and again, and you will probably get nothing for your efforts

yahoo is about entertainment, not customer service
