How did "My Favorite Things" become a Christmas song?

I remember watching "The Sound of Music" on tv with my family every Christmas afternoon!

The song itself, although sung during a thunderstorm, does mention a few winter-like things:

-bright copper kettles (for warm beverages after playing in the snow)

-warm woolen mittens (to prevent frostbite)

-brown paper packages tied up with strings (giftts, surprises)

-crisp apple streudels (I usually eat apple streudel in the autumn/winter as the apples will still be good to eat)

-doorbells (visitors, parties)

-sleigh bells (I remember going for sleigh rides with bells attached to the harness)

-snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes (winter)

Silver white winters that melt into springs (probably the one line that disqualifies it as a December song)

Why is "Frosty the Snowman" a Christmas song?

News flash. Christmas is a pagan holiday about hethen gods, man-on-man sex, spousal abuse, booze, and most of all greed (the only aspect retained in contemporary society).

My favorite things? What better way to exemplify the greed aspect of the most holy of days then with a song commemorating all the items you wish to obtain on said day?
