Diverticulitis, I need some real life experience answers, please.?
I've been taking antibiotics for 9 days now and I'm still having some pain. It got worse for a day or two and now it's like a dull ache. I'm eating regular food, I tried eating a soft diet for a few days but it didn't seem to make any difference.
Has anyone else delt with this? What were your experiences with it? I had one episode a little over a year ago and spent a week in the hospital. I had another episode about four months ago and it got better quickly. I have no idea what caused it to happen either time.
My doctor gives me prescriptions but no real life answers. If you have any info about this problem I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Yes, I've dealt with it, and in combination with Irritable Bowel. I finally had colon surgery and the diverticuli pouches were removed. I found that heat helped. I used a heating pad on my abdomen when I had pain. I didn't get pain when I ate cooked oatmeal and mashed potatoes. Different people react to different foods, so I'm not sure what you can tolerate. It is sort of trial and error. Drink lots of fluids and stay hydrated. Use your pain medication, too. I use Levbid to control the pain and the bowel spasms. It is no picnic to have this condition. Good luck.

i had a very bad experience i had a perforation in my bowel and was beyond lucky that it healed your Dr. should have had you get a colonoscopy sorry if misspelled but no peanut butter no nuts at all no honey and the list goes on and if you smoke quit but you need to see a specialist I wish you good luck and
