With a cable. If it didn't come in the box with your video camera, it will run you about $40.

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder…. Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode. Use a good editing program.

Video needs a firewire connection, you need a firewire (ieee 1394) card installed in your computer (around 35.00 and easy to put in) then you need a firewire (ieee 1394) cord (not sure of the price). Then you hook your camera to your computer. You need some video capture software. Pinacle studio 11 ultimate is on sale at Bestbuy right now, for half price.

You will need the appropriate cables, and if yours is an older model, you will need even more hardware. You will also need software...Windows comes with a movie maker and that one is good enough for me.

I suggest taking your camera to Circuit City or Best Buy, or any number of big outlets....The help is always free, though this is a bad time to get info with all the shopping going on.

    Good luck!

I have a cable and software that came with my camcorder (Sony). I loaded the software and plugged in the cable. It recognized the camcorder and pulled out the videos. The software (Imagemixer) also had some editing packages that I used to break up the videos into smaller pieces. I used a free trial of "Express Burn" to make the DVD's

it depends on your hardware. if you have a digital video tape camera it is simply a matter of hooking up the cable and viewing the files in explorer (windows) or the desktop (mac) and copying and pasting. if you have a vhs, vhs-c or 8mm camera you are better off hooking it up to a vcr-dvd combo player and recording directly to a dvd-r/rw. if you have a hard-drive camera then you simply hook it up to the computer like you would with the first scenario above.
