how will republicans react when AGW is finally 100% proven?
this is assuming it will be. if you don't believe it will be, answer the question as if it were hypothetical.
AGW = anthropogenic global warming -- man made global warming
will they: admit they were wrong and work to help the planet?
or
continue to deny it exists, so as to ensure that the rich CEOs of oil companies can make as much money as they possibly can before mankind's extinction?
or
simply change their agenda to a new form of double-speak rhetoric (ie. pretend that THEY were the ones who had believed in it all along, and that the dems were the deniers)?
i'm guessing either the second or third option
John M, please read the question. if you don't believe it will be, answer the question HYPOTHETICALLY.

The majority of Republicans already believe the theory. Polls have shown this, and it's evident by the acceptance of the theory by the top 4 Republican presidential candidates.
I think many will pretend they accepted the theory all along just as many pretend they never denied the planet was warming. Others will simply try and change the subject, claiming that we should let the free market rather than governments regulate carbon emissions.
Republicans are not good at admitting when they're wrong (see Iraq War), so I'm sure they'll find a way to avoid admitting it about AGW.
Deep down I think the deniers already know they're wrong, because they can't explain the simple scientific facts.

Hmm maybe they will feel the same way as the ice age of the 70's that never happened? The Earth goes through changes all the time, it has been warmer and cooler, and I am sure when it hit 100 degree F. in Alaska in 1915, no one thought it was due to man's created warming, as the temps dropped back within the normal range within a few years and only a few decades later people thought we were going to freeze to death in the next ice age. Now only a few more decades, and the earth is once again changing, now we are in the middle of global warming caused by man? When there is proof other than theory, maybe it will be believable.

Depends on which republican in question, luckily there are a few out there that think the amount of scientific evidence convices them. maybe those people will become their nominees or something

It will never be proven just as the global cooling theories of the 1970's weren't proven. Give it another 20 years and they will be calling it global cooling again.

One other person, a scientist, testified on the same day that Al Gore did before Congress, he acknowledged the debate on the issue of man-made vs. natural warming but also said, regardless of which side was right, it makes no difference because nothing we do will make any difference whatsoever. Personally I don't believe it's a man-made problem, it's natural, and in fact has happened before.

Most will continue to deny it even when they are moving into my back yard. I live 1,100 feet above sea level.

Sheepishly.
Remember not so long ago when they said global warming wasn't even happening?
Now they've revised it to "well it's happening but it's natural cycling"...

Even if it is proved 100% (and I'm not saying it is or isn't) I still will be against changing our way of life. if it will effect the economy negatively.
