Here's a great place to compare digital cameras.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?m...
If you look in the Ricoh column you will see a link to an in-depth review of that model. Unfortunately they did not review the Panasonic but just looking at the two columns side-by-side you should get a good idea of how the two stack up against one another.
At a brief glance here's my take:
The Panasonic wins on megapixels - 12 vs 10
The Panasonic wins on Price - $350 vs $550
The Ricoh wins on wide angle lens - 24 vs 28 (not much but if you take lots of photos indoors of large groups, every little bit helps.)
The Panasonic wins on telephoto lens - 100 vs 72 (Again, not a huge difference but if you take outdoor shots at great distance then every little bit helps.)
The Ricoh wins on close focus - 30cm vs 50cm
The Ricoh wins on slow shutter speed - 180 seconds vs 8 seconds
The Panasonic is lighter, not sure if that's an advantage or not. Sometimes a slightly heavy camera is easier to hold steady.
