Why do some men, likes to give thier spouse/gf a lingeri as a present?

When I buy my wife lingerie, it's more of a gift for me than for her. However, when we do get into bed, it just comes off quick anyway and I don't see it. I actually find the shopping and seeing how she looks in different lingerie more enjoyable. Most of it just sits in a drawer. It's kind of a fantasy thing I guess. (Kind of off topic, but buying clothes for my wife can be a lot more sexy than buying lingerie, because I see her in them everyday. I like seeing my wife look good, and with a little practice, I can actually pick out good clothes for her. She looks sexier than ever!)
