How would you rank these hitters?

Strictly as ballplayers, please rank the following 4 players in the order you would draft them. Take into account hitting, defense, speed, power, leadership and whatever other factors you would consider if you were forming a team. Brief explanations of your thought process would be appreciated!

- Roberto Clemente

- Pete Rose

- Carl Yastrzemski

- Robin Yount

Thanks in advance for your thoughtful responses!

Wow you certainly have quite a list of tremendous players and all gifted in different ways. This is how I would draft them:

Roberto Clemente had all the tools of a complete player. He could run, throw, and hit for average and with power. Best arm I've ever seen and a complete hitter.

    Hitting: 8 out of 10

    Defense: 10 out of 10

    Power: 6 out of 10

    Speed: 7 out of 10

    Leadership: 9 out of 10

    Total: 40 points

Carl Yaztrezemski had a determination and focus you rarely see in a ballplayer with great baseball instincts and a fearless player who was a great fielder and hitter.

    Hitting: 7 out of 10

    Defense: 8 out of 10

    Speed: 5 out of 10

    Power: 7 out of 10

    Leadership: 9 out of 10

    Total; 36 points

Pete Rose always played the game the way it was meant to be played, hard and at all times. He played the game as if his life depended on it.

    Hitting; 7 out of 10

    Defense: 7 out of 10

    Speed: 6 out of 10

    Power: 4 out of 10

    Leadership: 8 out of 10

    Total 32 points

Robin Yount had the skill to play at many different positions and hit for a decent average with good power. Very determined and hardnosed player.

    Hitting: 6 out of 10

    Defense: 7 out of 10

    Speed: 7 out of 10

    Power: 5 out of 10

    Leadeship: 7 out of 10

    Total: 32 points

Clemente was quite the baller.....could hit anything and would run like a deer to stretch a single into a double.

Pete Rose was Charlie Hustle, enough said.

Yazoo was a pull hitter to right field that "fit" well at Fenway.

But Robin Yount was under-rated his entire career because I'm thinking he played in middle market.

    That said, I'd rank them:

    Rose

    Clemente

    Yount

    Yazz

...even though Yazz was one of my favorites as a kid....

Well, I would actually leave them the way they are place at the top: (1)Roberto Clemente, (2)Pete Rose, (3)Carl Yastrzemski, & (4)Robin Yount.

I wouldn't consider either of these a home run threat, they all had their unique ability & some more than others. Pete Rose I believe had the most power out of all of them. But if you count speed, I would say tha Roberto Clemente would lead in this category. There is one thing that all of these players have in common & that's the way the played the game. They all gave it their best & played with heart, not mattering the mney they earn or the way they look. These players were ballplayers of old.

    1) Roberto Clemente - The best all-around ball player on this list. He had the right amount of power and contact to get on base, then cause problems on the base paths. I wish we could have seen him finish the career he started.

    2) Pete Rose - He didn't earn the nickname "Charlie Hustle" for nothing. I don't care about his rap about betting on sports. (in my own opinion, that is not enough to keep the game's all-time hit king out of the HOF...we need to get his butt into Cooperstown as a player!)

    3) Robin Yount - Another remarkable hitter. It was always fun to watch him play the game. A scrappy guy who knew how to play the game.

    4) Carl Yastremski - As all of these other great players, he was as good as they come, but it is hard to stand up to these other amazing players.
