Why does Micheal Bay get so much flak?

by flak do you mean anti-aircraft fire?

I don't think he really gets alot of that.

Micheal Bay makes big budget loud over the top movies. I emphasize the word "movies." He is a movie maker not a film maker. A very skilled movie maker. Movies make money but films touch people and define generations. Movie makers generate lots of revenue at the box office but rarely get respect from other directors and critics. I enjoy his movies. But until he starts making films that have substance and real worth he will continue to be criticized. Honestly, I don't think he really gives a d@mn about others opinion of him.

He has made quite a lot of enjoyable movies but he gets credit in the wrong ways and this is what people are criticizing. He just doesn't have the talent of the better directors in the industry and yet his press tries to place him up there with them. This doesn't mean that his movies are bad. For what they are they are quite good. I think if he really wants to prove himself as a director he will have to tackle a serious piece. Otherwise he's limited to the 'action/scifi' scope. Spielberg got a lot of flak (and yes, that word is slang and used correctly in it's slang form) until he came out with something serious to prove his scope. Until Bay does this, no one will really know if he really qualifies for the big leauges.

good for you..but here's my problem with bay.. he gets 200 million to make a film, every scene is CGI , most of the actors can not act in his fantasy world.. also i've enjoyed the movies on the sci-fi channel, partially because the special effects are way cheaper and the actors actually have to act..unbelieveable , I know..that's just my thing against bay, his movies are hardly worth watching once.

In addition to what the previous responders have mentioned, if you've ever met him he as a tremendous ego, is an angry screamer, and is actually reckless in regards to safety while working. Remember the whole Twilight Zone tragedy? Neither does he, so don't be surprised if something similar happens on one of his sets.

Because he's a terrible director. Example: Pearl Harbor.

Oh, so NOW people remember how horrible that was, and how god-awful Bay is.
