Will the GOP try to rig the 2008 Presidential elections?

No disrespect to the millions of honest hard-working Americans with conservative values who vote republican. This is about a GOP staffer who admitted that the GOP fixed the 2002 New Hampshire election in an effort to control the senate.

Inside a GOP effort to rig the 2002 New Hampshire elections

One of his tactics, Allen Raymond said, was angering union households with calls in which people with Latin-sounding voices talked favorably about a rival candidate's support for the North American Free Trade Agreement. And he used the voice of an angry black man, posing as a Democrat, to stir up "fear, racism, bigotry" in white neighborhoods.

...he wrote: "After 10 full years inside the GOP, 90 days among honest criminals wasn't really any great ordeal."

The political dirty tricks "will only get tougher, nastier, more brutal" in coming elections.

To the answerer above me, "Bedwetting liberal" that voted for Bush here in 2000. Take that! Yes, I am worried about election rigging from either side or even inside, but Republicans have more ties to the voting machine companies, so it tends to tip that way I guess.

I think anyone directly involved with vote tampering, or machine/count rigging, for a federal level election, should be charged with treason. That might put an incentive to stop someone from selling out an election for a few bucks in a key county somewhere. You are always going to have a few discrepancies, but smarter people than me have already suggested solutions that never seem to pass in congress or senate.

it somewhat possibly might desire to be. the yank public has been extra and extra disenchanted with the present management. to help save all of us happy and searching forward to something extra effective, the powers-that-be have desperate to pacify voters with a possible liberal african-american candidate. The backbone of the government does this specially situations as a potential to sell faith in our "democracy" and quiet revolutioary inclinations. Thats the way our 2 social gathering device works. Its distinctly conservative for some years then provide thank you to a superficially "liberal" democratic government. the two events at the instant are not plenty distinctive and ultimantely have the comparable time table. via the way Biden calls himself a ZIONIST!! Its the comparable element many times.

It sounds like you are already planning for your defeat. Subconsciously I believe you know your top candidates are seriously flawed and are doomed in the general election. But being what you are; and hand wringing, bed wetting, conspiracy behind every tree Liberal, you have to come up with a plausible reason why your perfect candidate was beaten by a stupid, evil, rich, greedy NeoCon who is out to conquer and destroy the world.

I don't see anything wrong with it, no worse than questionable advertising on most candidates parts,

It comes down to people being smart enough to make an educated decision on their own without all the lame antics.

Sadly most americans can't make an educated decision, because they rely on the one or two things they see on television to guide it rather than looking into it in detail themselves.

I have read articles published by Mr. McClatchy and found them to be so extremely biased that I stopped. But then it is his website so I guess he can print anything he wants to and I have the freedom to read something else, huh? Ain't life grand?

Let us hope they do. Anything would be safer than electing a liberal president. You had best be scared if a demo wins.

  • 1 decade ago

Of course they will. The Bush administration justice department is working hard every day to kick people off the voting rolls that they believe will not vote republican.
