Who should have won the Daytona 500? Martin or Harvick?

If the Caution came out the winner should have been Martin. But if the Checkers came out it should have been Harvick. If the Caution and Checkers came it should have been Martin. What you think. I want Nascar to used IROC Series Cars in every race and every driver will have their own to drive. What you think. I hate the car of tomorrow.

  • Wow, What a time to bring this up.. I'd almost forgot!

    Ok.. heres my 2 cents!

Harvick should have won the Daytona 500 because he crossed the finish line first coming to the checkered flag! Now, Since the new rule that the field is frozen after every caution.. In all reality.. The caution should've waived AS SOON AS THE WRECK STARTED HAPPENING. When a big wreck starts happening on the super speedways the caution is almost simultaneous with the caution flag. SO, That gives the win to MARK MARTIN instead..

If NASCAR was consistent with their rules and regulations.. Mark Martin would have won it! (Which is who I was pullin' for, nothing against Happy Harvick)

So.. I guess all-in-all.. Nascar SCREWED UP! They made the right CALL @ the end of the day, but it wasn't the consistent call which would've been screwy just like the rest of them... Either way they lose... lol

I don't think Mark could have won in either case. If they threw the yellow then it would have been a "green, white, checker" finish and Mark doesn't have the most aggressive restarts and is a little more cautious with his car than Harvick. As far as The COT? moot point much like the chase. It is what it is and the teams are just going to have to learn how to adjust them. It's here to stay so get used to it. IROC???? You know what happened to that series don't you? Last I heard you could buy your choice of the IROC cars for $20,000.

It's not as simple as that. If you watch that last quarter-lap in slow motion, you'll see that when Kyle Busch first got sideways, Harvick was slightly ahead of Martin. Then Martin pulled ahead for a few seconds . . . then Harvick took the lead again for the win. NASCAR chose to leave the race to the racers rather than having it hinge on how fast an official could wave his arm.

I can't fault them for that. And I'm a Mark Martin fan.

Bottom line, it's over, Harvick won. Mark will try again in '08 and perhaps for a few years thereafter.

Mark Martin would of been the more popular Daytona 500 winner than Harvick.

NASCAR shouldn't use IROC cars because its NASCAR, not IROC. The CoT is an interesting stock car. I think they should go back to the power days, when there were cars going 230mph+.

Its over, theres nothing we or Nascar can do about it now..I would have love to have seen Mark Martin win, it would have been awesome..But Harvick won, nothing is gonna change it. Car of tomorrow, well I'm still trying to adjust to it.. Hopefully it will change from the Crap of Tomorrow to the Car of Today once the season starts.. 60 days and counting down..

Martin! Normally the caution would be out and the race would be over, but NASCAR, being so inconsistent, they just CHOSE not to because they like Harvick more.

NASCAR had like 1/2 a second to make a decision and since there are no do-overs Harvick won it. Most people were staring at the replays for days and weeks afterwards scratching their heads as to which way would have been right and NASCAR had to make the call in a split second. I wouldn't have wanted to be in their shoes for that one.

Martin should have won. If the checkered flag never came out, they would have froze the field and Martin would win. It didn't happen. Uh Joycesan, Richard Petty is the king of NASCAR.

About the same question was asked a couple months ago

I said I thought Mark Should have won it, and got 7 thumbs down. I`m not gonna do that any more I`ll just say if Mark was

supposed to have won it he would have.

I hate the COT, but IROC cars are not the answer. Mark Martin should have one that race, but you can't dwell on the past.
