What happened to the Florida State program?

Bowden has to go. They get top 10 recruiting classes every year and then they don't coach their talent. They brought in Jimbo Fisher and some new assistant coaches that actually know how to coach...

...But now they have at least 20 players being suspended for their bowl game against Kentucky and those that are returning for next year will miss the first 3 games for an academic cheating scandal... FSU was so dominating in the 90's and they've gone completely downhill...

Yeah, Bowden is waaaaaaaaaay past his prime. But any program in the country could be subject to this kind of stuff. It just so happens FSU guys got caught. That could have been a majority of teams in D-1 (or any other division for that matter.)

The academic scandal involved cheating on an online music history exam. Have you ever taken an online class before? Do you have any idea how easy it is to cheat while taking one? I'm sure that 99.9% of students who take online classes use their books or other references while taking exams.

If the NCAA were to investigate other schools for academic infractions, FSU players cheating on an online exam would seriously pale in comparison.

From a football perspective, Florida State is going through a transitional period right now - that's why Bowden brought in so many new coaches. Bowden will be retiring in the next few years and he wants to get the football program going in the right direction again. Him keeping his son as Offensive Coordinator for so long is really what hurt us, but just because the Noles were a dominating team in the 90s doesn't mean they should automatically be dominating this decade. I can't think of any team that has been at the top for the past 20 years, can you?

There's NOT a major team in the NCAA's that wouldn't find, or be found-out to have at LEAST 25 violations for academics, gifts (count the Escalades at Ohio St.!) etc. -- remember Reggie Bush and his houses for mom, etc.? it all is simply washed under the rug -- because it's all connected, and all a $$$-making circle (sports/media/fans/sports).

They should just PAY the athletes, like the minor/pro leagues, and offer them classes if they wish to hone their skills/try and get drafted... etc.

    Enough of this nonsense, already.

What does coaching have to do with academics?

They recruit those kids for football, nothing else.
