Can you come up with names with unintended meanings in other languages?

I used to like a guy. His sister's name is Thin Ho.

In Thai, everyone as a cutesy nickname (because our given names are horribly convoluted and difficult to spell and pronounce).

My mother went to nursing school with a girl whose nick meant "pumpkin." If you were to pronounce this name in English, it would sound like "f*** tong." When they all came to America, yes, she changed her name to "Pumpkin" as it is in English.

Someone very close to me just had a baby boy. They're Jewish, so they named the baby a more traditional version of Jonathan. They call the baby "Yoni" for short. I don't have the heart to tell them that "yoni" is Sanskrit for "vagina."

And on a flipside to the Thai/English naming issue, I knew a girl named Leah. My mother said that name would never work in Thai -- it means "to lick."

Someone asked about the name Pia on here..in Italian it means pure. I informed him in brazil it means sink! & I met a poor japanese woman named Chuki.

Well I had a friend once named Rich Pratt, and Pratt is the word for A** in the UK, so his name was Dick A**! Haha.

I always though Marie was a nice middle name until I realized it means "bitter sea". Its really common too!
