Why are American Citizens 'allowing' our elected officials?

because most idiots are too busy watching American Idol and Dancing With the Stars to get off their lazy arses and vote for people who are willing to fix the problem

if the media was really serious about getting people to vote, they would have blackouts or only broadcast election coverage on election day

Because we do not live in a Democracy. We have a Republic which would be great except two things.

1) Most "credible" media is owned by corporations that tend to be dishonest and trick auto-pilot Americans into picking scumbags.

2)Our election system as we know it is unconstitutional. It's nothing like the founding fathers intended and thugs keep it in place. We do not live in a 2 party state but you would never know it wandering America.

Because most people are sheeple and don't question authority. Also, I have yet to find the specific powers of Congress that enumerated Congress shall oversee/regulate the use of medication/drugs in sports. That is what the DEA and FDA are for!!!

Millions of us stopped the amnesty bill in June...that's what it takes...millions of us writing & calling congress everyday! It only takes a few minutes...maybe write congress instead of answering a few nonsense questions on YA??? Those of us that write on not "allowing" the govt. to give illegals more rights than Americans...those of you that just complain on YA are the enablers.....give it some thought!

Republicans want free labor for their corporate buddies and Democrats want another group that they can ensnare with their social programs, giving them another mindless sure thing constituency.

The only people who lose are the 86% of the American people who oppose illegal immigration.

Americans have a habit of demanding a lot from their government. They will demand that illegal aliens be removed, then when companies outsource the work and the trade deficit and inflation go up due to the lack of labor, Americans will demand that the government do something about it.

I am convinced that many of our elected officials are total idiots. Congress if full of them. Biggest collection of idiots on the planet. State government is full of them too.

A very complex issue. Should be addressed somewhere..not sure Yahoo! Answers is the be all end all of that discussion.
