Well there are two scenarios here:
- You somehow managed to change the settings in iTunes telling it not to load "Album Artwork" onto your iPod. If you look under "Edit" > "Preferences" under one of the tabs there is an option whether or not you want iTunes to copy album artwork onto your iPod.
- Your iTunes album artwork folder has been corrupted or deleted for whatever reason and the album artwork is no longer on your computer and therefore cannot be copied onto your iPod. In iTunes click "Advanced" > "Get Album Artwork". iTunes will then check its online database and will load the album artwork onto your computer for every song which it can find on its servers. When it searches its database it looks for two things: Artist and Album, so if you copied music from your CDs to iTunes as long as the Artist and Album boxes are filled in correctly iTunes will also load artwork for those songs, even if the songs were not purchased from their store. Once it finishes you can update your iPod and the artwork should be there.
Of course there is another possibility and that is that your iPod has been corrupted for whatever reason, this has happened to me before and is an easy fix. However, this is a drastic solution and should only be used when all other options fail.... Connect your iPod and when the Summary screen shows up in iTunes select "Restore", follow the instructions, when done update iPod and your finished.

you can try and restore it...it will put it back to the original setting and then you can plug the ipod into the computer and all your songs will go back on it...including any pictures and album artwork...
1.plug ipod in
2.click on your ipod...go to the summary..
3.click restore

The same thing happened to me. The Guy @ Best Buy told me to restore it to factory settings & then reload all info back on it.
