Do airlines require cash for Standby flights?

Will they accept credit cards? What is the average cost of a flight in relation to one that is reserved in advance?

I don't think what you are thinking about exists anymore. Airlines no longer allow you to buy a standby ticket. Standby now refers to either 1) an airline employee trying to fly or 2) a person with a confirmed flight trying to get on a different flight than the one booked. At least I am not aware of any airlines that still allow that. I wish :(
