Children Exposed?
My husbands friend is an addict. She has small children in her very disfunctional atmospheric home. I am looking for links to known studies where cocaine has affected children. All I can find is preterm birth info.
I want to at least alert those closest to her because she has already fainted and quit breathing once and caused a car accident another time.
Is it possible for a child to breath in or ingest cocaine particles, ie, found all throughout the home? What happens when she wipes her nose and then cuts an apple for them?
I am almost certain they are being exposed, just need scientific data.
thanks!

I'm afraid I don't have any scientific data to back up my knowledge, but I have learned a thing or two about drug addicts and their children in my life.
Kids who live in that kind of environment are most likely already addicted. Many coke users don't just sniff it anymore -- they smoke it too. Smoking drugs is not limited to pot and meth anymore. Even if the drug user isn't smoking it, it is so easy to spill a little of the powder, which the child may eat or, following the adults' example, sniff. And yes, the sniffer's "backlash" (they tend to snort out after snorting a bunch in) emits particles that are fine enough for a child to breathe in unwittingly.
I really do wish I had data to back up what I'm telling you, but sadly, all I can say is that I've been around them long enough to have seen the ill effects of the abuse. A very sad scene indeed.

They are in an atsmophere that is not safe for them to be in and they need to be taken care of by someone else at this time.Whether it be child protection services or family members that are willing to help.As regards to the chemicals effecting them i have no idea but the way the mother is currently is not good for these children and until she sorts herself out they should not be in her care.

The parents are unfit. If they are doing these things around their children, the children are not being well cared for.
If i knew parents like that I would personally not hesitate to call my local Children's protective services.
What you have written down here, tells me that the children are or could be in danger.
Please do the right thing and protect the innocent.
