Why dont alot of people say their prayers when we eat or sleep?

I mean like, people some people dont say their grace whne they eat. Some dont pray before they go to bed. But why is it when we are in serious trouble like if the aliens came, we pray to GOd for help? God asked us all to obey Him and follow His rules and He will give you anything you want(like a genie, but with unlimited wishes) but we still dont do it. The crazy thing about it is that even non believe like atheist and agnostist even pray to God for help when we are in danger.

Don't know, but God and I talk when I drive to work, when I go home and all the time during the day, and before we eat and before bed too.

There was once a time when people would betray each other by cursing or poising there food. Blessing the food is suppose to remove the curse (evil spirit) and also through faith the poison can not affect the person eating it. As for praying before sleep, when we are sleep we are at a helpless state both spiritually and physically. We pray for protection through the night so evil spirits wont bother us in our sleep (dreams) and also evil people will not be able to bother us as well.

I don't pray to God when I'm in danger. I pray to gods (that's plural) with names. Like Lucifer and Leviathan, and Verrine (and a whole host of others). And I only pray when I genuinely need guidance. Sure - I'll say something of thanksgiving (like thanking the earth for the food on my plate, or the animal that gave its life so that I may have iron and protien). But I don't need to pray before bed (why?). Also - Atheists don't pray when they're in danger. Who told you that nonsense? And to boot -- what's this about aliens? Are you sober right now?

God, as it were.....is the biggest word in the English dictionary, if you ask me. There are probably no two people who agree on it's meaning in any exact sense. Everything and Always are cognitive distortions, unless we all agree on what is being talked about.

One person praying, thinks Jesus is God and the one whom they are praying to. Another thinks God does not exist. Another still, thinks God is in Abraham or Moses or Mohammed or another. All of these people have something in common, they worship a word's meaning that means something different to each one, hence they are ungathered spirits wishing often for different results in the name of different ideas.

So, what's the use? Eventually this leads to an arguement, especially if each one of these people thinks their idea is more important or more sacred than another's. Sacred mythology leads to very hurtful directed actions sometimes. It is risky to join hands, if you will, with others who really have nothing in common with your ideas. Some of them have been taught to get you to say what they want you to say, brainwashed that you are evil etc. It is really sick sometimes.

I guess you can know people sometimes and have something more in common, but to just pray with strangers that have no concept of your thoughts and feelings is like wishing against each other, even on principle.

I believe in healing, from wherever it comes. I pray to a God of Forgive Affirmed Spirit, a gathered sense of healing that is in each one of us.

Healing be unto you and yours and me and mine in Forgive Affirmed Spirit

NOT when in danger; then I use an endless stream of epithets and gross vulgarities.

    But I DO say "Grace":

"The Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost,

Who eats the Fastest gets the Most."

    Amen.

well, we're all suppose to pray before we eat and go to sleep, they do that, but sometimes they don't, or they just don't do that, cause they think it's weird or something..

but, when we're in danger, we WANT god to be right there with us, with no harm in our way, some people just want that..

but, i know we should ALL pray before we eat, and before we go to sleep, and appreciate what he gave us, cause, when we pray that we need him when danger comes, he protects us, we should return the favor back..

    i hoped i helped!

some are not Thank full and some are. but as long as you pray thats all that matter. pray always any any were .do you pray when you go out to eat?

  • Because some people don't get to eat and starve to death, a few months after they were created.......

Do you really think that God cares about whether you are thankful for your brussel sprouts, when he is letting little Mabubu die of malnutrition?

It all goes back to "there are no athiests in fox holes". That term came into being in WWI. A foxhole is a hole in the ground where men hide from mortor fire. It's meaning is that athiests will believe in God when there life is in danger.
