any good ideas for use of wood ashes, from a wood stove, besides putting on ice for traction.?

    Ashes are good in a garden to an extent..They will make the soil to be a very acidic ph after you use too much..and alot of plants do not like acidic soil..so be careful where and what plants you use it on..too much can do more harm than help..

    yes you take these and let them cool down and when winter is over put them in your garden to help put stuff back in the soil. a little at a time. around your trees and around your flowrs. in your mulch pile. But a little of the stuff goes a long way.

    Add them to your mulch pile, or slake them and use the slurry for reiki glazing or soap making.

    I spread them in the garden and roto-till them in. I've used them to make lye in soap making also,

    you can spread them along your property line, yhe sulfer, will keep unwanted snakes away

    Source(s): we had copper head snakes in our garage and the neighbor tole us to spread the ashes from the fire place along the property line to keep them away. It worked

    put in your compost heap for fertilizer
