The pray hoax?

I don't understand why some people pray the way they do.

For example, many people like to pray for sick people.

The problem I have with this is why do you need to pray for sick people. Is god not aware that they are sick? Does he not care, and needs you to plead for them for him to be bother with it?

If you pray for sick people do you believe god is not all-knowing, and all-merciful?

Update:

So far most people believe god isn't all merciful.

i.e. He doesn't care unless enough people beg him to do something.

Prayer is an excuse not to actually do anything, and feel like you are.

    Addendum:

A merciful and peaceful God wouldn't slaughter babies (as is written in the good book).

  • The point is to let the alleged God know that many, many people are thinking about the well-being of this person. Maybe all the prayers on behalf of this one person will get God to sit up and take notice and send the healing powers to the sick person who gets the most prayers.

It didn't work for my brother, but, hey, a lot of people tried.

Yes, God knows the person is sick. But it is prayer that moves God---that opens the door. God will not do anything unless we ask Him to. That's the way it is. We do not have to tell Him all our circumstances, He already knows that; we ask Him to move in our prayers. That is the way He designed it and that's the way it is.

We are asked to pray for the sick- we are told to come to the throne of God for grace in time of need- if prayer was not apart of God's will there would not be so many passages in the Bible to are prayers. If you choose not to pray, that is your choice, however I will never stop- because for me- PRAYER DOES NOT GET GOD READY TO DO OUR WILL, IT GETS US READY TO DO HIS. And for those who think prayer is substitute for action- read Nehemiah.

I think it's like a petition for god to get up and do something about it, if no one prays he'll just sit back and do nothing

Praying is a way to talk to God kinda like a friend. yes he know what we want before we ask but he wants us to ask anyway. its kinda like this; u might have a girlfriend that loves you, but that doesnt mean that she should never tell you that she loves you though.............you go think about that

If you don't believe in it, then don't do it. No one's making you.
