There are people who blame the US for hurricanes.

    Doesn't mean they are credible.

Man, WHERE do you get your information?

Let's deal with some of the claims that have already arisen about Bhutto's death and U.S. involvement - and NONE I have discovered in a day-long review of blogs includes what YOU asked.

First - the U.S. is responsible because the Iraq War has destabilized Pakistan, stimulated terrorism, and put a female, secular (although Muslim) moderate like Bhutto in danger from extremists.

Well, we don't yet KNOW who is responsible for her death - it might even be Musharraf himself (that is going around like wildfire). On the other hand, there is also some truth in the claim, since the U.S. Iraqi adventure has dragged Pakistan in, has failed to address effectively the problem of the Taliban and al Quaeda in and around Afghanistan, and has inflamed terrorism.

Next - the U.S. is responsible because Bush encouraged Bhutto to go back to Pakistan, and then did not actively press Musharraf to protect her. The first part is true; the second if false. U.S. political leaders of both parties have made MANY efforts to press the Pakistani government to provide Bhutto with security. It appears that the government's response was uneven, and today, useless. But that is NOT the fault of the U.S.

Finally - the U.S. is responsible because her assassination was really a plot by the CIA, in order to keep Musharraf insecure but in power, and to inflame American opinion and fear about terrorism. This is a canard that has been making the blog rounds today and is utter garbage. The murder of Benazir Bhutto has pushed the entire world to the edge of GREAT danger and the U.S. stands to gain NOTHING from this event - quite the opposite.

As for the shallow pools who have answered with such crap as the U.S. is everyone's whipping boy - well, one reason America is in global trouble today is that those idiots are allowed to vote.

You are playing into Jimmy Carter's hand. The old party line is to blame America first crowd.

This was a Pakistan Internal Affairs issue. This is the fault of Pakistan alone. Do not follow Jimmy Carter.

Because the U.S. is the world's scapegoat. The Democrats, European Socialist, and Muslims blame everything on America first.

It's a rule. You can live by it.

The US gets blamed for everything - what else is new? I'm guessing Al Gore is or will also criticize the US for this - as he's been doing at all his environmental love fests. The Dem candidates will probably also do likewise - sadly!

We're not . . . we were not responsible for her protection. Where did you hear this?

I read the analysis on yahoo . . . nothing about U.S. involvement. It's not on MSNBC . . . could you provide a link. I'm not debating you, I just want to know. Thanks.
