What is needed to get a notebook online?

Well, first find out if the notebook has a built-in wireless card. If it does, then it is capable of picking up wireless signals. If it doesn't, then you have to purchase an internet card from Sprint or some other carrier to get the internet. If it does have a wireless card built in, then all you have to do is turn on your wifi (a little switch on the side of your computer) and see which wireless signals are in the area. Maybe you'll get one! I'm doing the same thing right now on my Dell laptop w/o a service provider.

And look for what are called 'hotspots' like the airport, where there is bound to be a wireless connection.

you can do it in several ways, with an IP on dial-up that you plug into a phone jack, through a cable modem, through an IP with a cell phone and some extra software installed or you can get a wireless card and go thru WI-FI. Most WI-FI only covers short distances so you have to be a little selective in your location. If you are going to use it at home and can get dial-up or cable would be the simplest way to go. good luck

You need to subscribe to broadband. Then if it has a wireless card, get a wireless router, otherwise a wired router. Alternatively you could buy a wireless router and wireless card.
