Nicanor is gorgeous! It's hard to not put a lot of hopes and dreams on this little guy's shoulders... BUT he sure does look tough!

    go here: http://www.millridge.com/barbaros-family.aspx

to see some pictures and some video clips. He has just recently entered his formal training, and I suspect he might make his debut at Delaware Park just like Barbaro did.

Yep, too early to tell. His oldest full sib is Nicanor who will turn two years old in a few days (all Thoroughbreds are a year older on Jan 1st). He is scheduled to begin training soon though it will be awhile before he could be in a race. The fact is, of the 30,000 Thoroughbred foals born every year only a small percentage ever make it to the track. So, we may never see Nicanor race. To drive this point home, Barbaro has a half brother from the same dam named Man in Havana. He was in training with Matz at one point. He will be four years old in a few days and, as far as I can tell, has never been raced. Barbaro's other full brother who I don't think has been named yet is only a yearling so it would be at least another year before he might race. So, in short, no one knows if they will turn out to be good race horses.

La Ville Rouge (the dam of Barbaro) produced one foal prior to a Barbaro, a 2002 colt by Saint Ballado named Holy Ground, he won around $90,000 in prize money but was retired to stud following an injury. He is at stud in Florida.

She also had a colt by Quiet American in 2004 who has been gelded and is as yet unraced. He is called Man in Havana

She appears to have been barren in 2005 and her 2006 and 2007 foals are too young to have raced as yet.

In all likelyhood, none of the foals will be as good as Barbaro.

It's too early to tell as far as full sibs are concerned. There is one that is going to be 2 in 2008, so we will see then. Otherwise, as a son of Dynaformer, his bloodline is very productive. But I'm eager to see his full brother next year.

    None of racing age yet.

I think Nicanor turns 2 next week.

I don't think the weanling has a name yet, and he will turn 1 next week.
