Who is in favor of Government Run Helathcare?

A recent AP Article by Jim Kuhnhenn and Trevor Thompson stated "Nearly two-thirds of voters polled said the United States should adopt a universal health insurance program "in which everyone is covered under a program like Medicare that is run by the government and financed by taxpayers." "

Personally, this shocks me. Have any of these people gone to the DMV or SSA Office? For me it looks like a prescription for disaster, one more government bureaucracy that will spend a lot of tax dollars and deliver nothing but long lines and headheaches. Thoughts?

Those two thirds of voters ought to have to navigate the VA system some time for a taste of what they'd be getting. Or deal with TRICARE.

a government ran health-care system is crazy! HOW are we going to pay for that?? And where will doctors' salaries go? The insurance companies have caused prices to shoot through the roof because the docs know they can charge outrageous prices to the insurance companies. What will happen when the docs start charging the government? I have talked to several people that have made a contract to do work for the government and they all overcharge them... sometimes by millions of dollars.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that looks at this issue realistically.

I'd like to see what kind of research Mssrs. Kuhnhenn and Thompson did to back up such a claim.

As an American who spent the first five years of this decade with no health insurance, I say NO to nationalized health care.

My opinion on Universal health care is that any child under the age of 18, regardless of parental income, should be given free, governemnt run medical treatment. The children are the future of our country and we need to give them every advantage to grow up healthy and strong.

I would disagree mightily with that article and poll. Coming from a medical family, I can tell you that none of the doctors that work for my father or any of his patients wants socialized medicine. That poll is scewed.

i agree with you about the long lines and the headaches.

also keep in mind that EVERYONE would have this insurance - even if they didn't pay taxes - also a very very very bad idea.

Well if that's the alternative to what we have now, I tacitly approve.
