what is this rash on my neck?
I have a rash that seemed to form on my neck.
It appeared on the area just under my jaw.
It appeared very rapidly also. After a few hours, it had rapidly grown.
The rash appears to look as if it was 20 or so small little whiteheads.
I got this before a few times, always in the exact same spot.
I remember getting it when i was a kid, but i got it there in November this year, and it went away, only to re-appear.
It's really itchy too, and i dont know what to do about it.
i am not allergic to anything, and i havent eaten anything unusual lately.
i have been taking one-a-day-vitamins for the past while. would that cause it?
it's not a shaving rash (havent shaved in 5 days, and these only came today), and i am reasonably healthy. It's not chicken pox,as i had that when i was younger.
I'm not sure what it is. Could it aybe be shingles or something else serious?
PLEASE HELP!

HI Spodo
Here are a few ideas to heal the issue.
Cause
Although most rashes are not symptoms of a serious health problem, they can be signs of allergies, liver and gallbladder problems, lupus, bleeding disorders, nutritional deficiencies, and autoimmune diseases.
Rashes can also be due to the elimination of toxic wastes through the skin, or of an active immune reaction to an invading organism. Suppression of such a rash can lead to chronic disease states. Rather than try to suppress the rash, in such cases watchful waiting may be more advisable.
Caution: If your rash becomes chronic, forms a "butterfly" shape over your cheeks, or is accompanied by high fever and joint pains, seek immediate medical attention to rule out more serious illnesses.

Natural Cures
Diet: Screen for and eliminate any foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. Eat an organic, whole foods diet, with plenty of green leafy vegetables and yellow vegetables such as carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and winter squash. Also drink plenty of pure, filtered water, and avoid all processed foods and chemical food additives.
Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy Cream® applied topically to the affected areas.
Herbs: The following herbal remedies can speed healing: A tincture of equal parts burdock root and gentian root, the fresh juice of coriander, and/or aloe vera juice or gel.
Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies include Belladonna, Sulfur, Graphites, and Calc carb.
Juice Therapy: Drink fresh squeezed vegetable juices on a daily basis, especially carrot, beet, radish, and garlic juice.
Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can be helpful to speed healing: vitamin A and vitamin E (both orally and applied topically over the affected areas), vitamin C, essential fatty acids (EFAs), flaxseed oil, and amma linolenic acid (GLA). In addition, add half a teaspoon of baking soda to water and drink every fifteen minutes. Do this three times, and then every two to three hours for two to three days or until the reaction subsides.
Best of health to you

Without seeing the rash, it is difficult to determine what it might be but here's what it might be. I doubt it is anything serious. Germs that might cause the type of rash that you describe include strep (the same germ that causes strep throats) and staph.
It may be foliculitis which is a bacterial infection of the hair follicles. This looks a lot like razor burn and can itch and leave painful little white bumps. Sometimes it can spread about as well. These are USUALLY on the dry skin though.
Also, another possibility is heat rash. Heat rash is caused by plugging of the sweat pores and retention of sweat. This is extremely irritating and causes a very red, prickly type of rash especially in the neck region. It may spread over the entire back and chest. Treatment consists of dressing less warmly, bathing your with tepid or cool water and a wash cloth (without soap), and occasionally, especially in the neck region, a very light application of baby powder after bathing.
You need to go to see your physician who will recommend you see a dermatologist if he does not know what it is. Hope that helps somewhat.
Also, please do not try all of the alternative "cures" the person above has mentioned. You do not know what the rash is or is caused from and applying tinctures and herbs may make matters worse. You don't want to add other factors into the mix when dealing with an unknown rash.

It could be from drooling, milk dripping when feeding, excess sweat or heatrash. My son had this same issue abut a month ago. Pedi told me to wipe down with a warm, damp washcloth (and then dry excess moisture) after every feeding, and a few other times throughout the day. She said not to use a dry washcloth b/c you're only spreading the drool/milk/sweat around. Apply a little cornstarch powder in neck folds at in the morning and at bedtime. (Don't worry, you child is NOT going to suffocate and die from a little bit of powder...LOTS of moms are going to SCARE you into thinking that.)

You should consult your doctor. It can be a rash due to an allergy, or it can be something more serious, like an infection. Take care of it. Good luck.

It could be an allergic reaction to your washing detergent
Did it appear when you changed it?
Or it could be another product you're allergic to
