What's the best (economically)used, cheap 4x4?
I am thinking of buying a 4x4 to eventualy pull a horse trailer, but I'll need it for every day, shopping ect, as well. I dont have a lot of money, and want something reliable and as cheap to run as possible. Also is a 2ltr big enough or should I go for larger, I want a diesel engine as I've been told they are cheaper to run, any advice?

Landrover 110 or early defender, with a 2.5 turbo.
You should get a reasonable workhorse for about the $2k mark
These run forever provided they're maintained reasonably
Just ensure the chassis and bulkhead are in good condition.

Pulling a horse trailer would require the engine to be over 2 litres so the sweet little Suzukis would be out of the question. My own preference would be for Land Rover Defender or Discovery. You could get a pretty good one for about £4000.

only buy diesal ,as the 4+4 you need to pull a horse box will have to be big, look at you life and ask, can i you do this on my income, and you ask for reliable and cheap the two word dont go together . Tyres services parts ect all come twice as much as a car

Toyota Rav 4 after 2003. This will pull your trailer, get good MPG (26), diesal gas is expensive and has Toyota Quality. New they are 20k and a 2003 with basic options 10-12000.00 and will run 4-ever.

The best (economically) used and cheap 4X4 is HONDA CRV. There is no other car which even comes close to CRV when it comes to reliablity, performance and really spacious.
Any Honda CRV model is good, so that is a strong buying point for you. CRV is available in various engine sizes, they are very roomy from inside, very nice looking, massive boot, perfect family car and can be available in deisel.
