When I ask a stupid question (as a joke), why do I get serious answers?
Sometimes I ask stupid questions as a joke and I get serious answers. Why is this? Are there any people out there with a sense of humour?

I hear ya. Know exactly what you mean. I usually end up with a violation for it.

Because there are many cultures in the World Wide Web, sometimes idiomatic expressions do not translate well. For example, "Go fly a Kite," "Git outta Dodge," "That's Tight," In the process, jokes and sarcastic remarks may get different translations. Flicker it! (Huh)

Unless we can see a persons face, or know what kind of person he is, we as people cannot tell when a person is making a joke or not. It is true that different cultures see differnt things as serious, what you might consider funny. I can see a lot of funny things in other cultures, but if I laughed at some things, that would be an insult to them. You never said if you tell jokes to friends, or strangers. Strangers dont understand, friends do
I hope you have a happy New year
