When a dream turns bad?

I've had dreams before where something bad happens or is about to happen in the middle of the dream. It then seems I know consciencely (or not) that it isn't real or is too unreal and force myself to wake up. Sometimes it is quite a struggle to wake and the dream continues even though i realize it's a dream and finally do wake. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a form of lucid dreaming?

Yep, been there, did that, still do, got the T-shirts. I'm hoping it's normal. When I was younger, I actually directed the action, and turned the script to my advantage. Now I just say "This is a stupid dream," and I tune it out like it's TV.

The "I'm awake now---but no, I'm not awake now---but yes, I'm awake--no, the nightmare continues" is just an anxiety dream. I suggest you switch to a better single malt Scotch whiskey before going to bed.

Hope you're normal cuz we've been in the same boat. Sweet dreams, my friend...

I've had that happen before, only when I take control of my dream I don't always wake up, I keep going through the dream knowing it's not real while for some reason acting like it is.

Yes, this happens to me also. There are times when I'm dreaming of doing someone (ooops, I mean something) I know I shouldn't be, and thinking "hey, you're married" and then wake up before the fireworks start. Just gotta figure out how to stop doing that...

lol all the time. I used to have nightmares as a kid and almost never had a fun dream. I also could never tell when I was dreaming. So I trained myself overtime to find clues how to wake up. Best one is to think ur dreaming whether ur really are or not.

    Hi abluheron1,

The middle of the dream is your perspective point of view....

You see there are three parts to a dream.... The beginning, the middle and the end... (of course!!)....

The beginning of a dream tells us how it got started... what was on the mind of the dreamer that triggered this perspective.... it starts it off and is the open door to the issue that it pertains to.......

The middle of the story is the dreamer telling his or her point of view..... it's like listening to a child tell why a lamp got broken... he will point at this and that and say this happened and that, he will blame this person and say the things he felt etc.... but it is his side of the 'story' as to why it came to this.....

The end of the symbolic "story" is how things are now.... it is where things left off what brought us to this conclusion, that is....

All things must be taken into account in order to ascertain the meaning behind the story.......

The "story" of course, is about the dreamer's sojourn in life.... his personal account of what's going on in his life, who he/she encountered, etc...... in a spiritual language that is hard for many to understand.

You're scared as hell and cannot escape the doom in your dream efficiently. It's happened to me before...my girlfriend says she always knows when she is dreaming! I only know sometimes, I test reality with my ability to fly in any dream - it's my source of power and confidence in all my dreams....I feel invincible and great when I do it.

Yes it happens to me all the time and it scares me too. Sometimes I don't even have to be dreaming. I'll just lay there and my eyes wont open. Eventually I'll be able to open my eyes but it's really scary.
