most docile breed?
What breed would you consider the most docile? I know many would say Goldens. Chinese Cresteds are also a very docile breed as well as Clumber Spaniels (sleep all the time) and some greyhounds. What do you think is the most docile, never get angry, never bite breed?

There isn't a particular docile breed, any dog that has been treated badly or has had no training/socialization can and will be an "angry" dog.
For the most part though, some of the breeds I would think will tolerate more than others and for longer.
St. Bernards
Newfoundlands
Clumbers, Like you said
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
Field Spaniels
Bearded Collies
Greyhounds
several others
As far as my opinion goes... well bred and trained Goldens and Labs are very sweet and laid back dogs. A little too high energy to call docile though... Unfortunately the number of backyard breeders and puppymillers in this country are making these two breeds into something they're not. They're breeding bad temperamented dogs, unhealthy dogs and dogs with poor conformation. Bybs and PMs are ruining two perfectly good breeds, as it is, I would stay away from just any golden retriever these days, and I was raised with them my whole life, i would have to really know the breeder and their dogs and their dogs pedigrees before I bought one. I hate saying that but they're really being ruined.
The other retriever breeds that are less popular though, are very sweet dogs. I would probably be more tempted to go with a chesapeke, flat coated, curly coated, or Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retriever nowadays. If your picky about your breeder though you shouldn't have a problem with any of the retrieving breeds.

Well, yes golden retrievers are VERY docile, in fact i just saw one today and it was all over licking me and being so adorable the are REALLYY GREAT DOGS. I'm 11 years old, most dogs don't like Little kids-i wouldn't consider myself a little kid at ALL(considering i have a dog of my own) but some dogs are timid around even teens but Goldie's are the BEST. i have a morkie(Maltese/Yorkshire terrier) and she's veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy timid around Little kids-well, basically everyone except for me : ) Ok hun, listen up. If you have any kids or you just want a family dog, Goldie's are best. Labrador retrievers are also very docile but a little more active though they still love kids and are very obedient. If you want a small docile dog......................well there aren't that many. Maltese are pretty docile dogs, but trust me, DO NOT get a Yorkie, Chihuahua, or Pomeranian. Considering they are very little, they're best suitable for 1 person cuz they're not family dogs. if you want one of these, you'll also have to be prepared for a lot of barking. Bottom line, do NOT get one.(although i have one: ))
The bottom line is that you can't really judge a breed as calm or wild. Dogs are what they are and you have to train them well or just look for the right one.Basically, follow your own heart and don't listen to other people. A dog each has its own charictearstics and isn't breed to be perfect.
Hope this helps! : )

It really depends on the individual dog. As long as a dog is well-exercised and well-socialised, he will be extremely docile.
I think the giant breeds tend to be more docile compared to the toy breeds. However, to say that all St. Bernards are less likely to bite than all Chihuahuas would be a HUGE sweeping generalisation... it really, really is 80% dependent on individual dog in my opinion.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are very affectionate and docile couch potatoes. They are ultimate Lap dogs always eager to please making them extremely easy to train. You can do just about anything to them and they will never bite. They make excellent Therapy dogs in hospitals.
I had an American Bulldog/Pit mix pound puppy that was the most docile dog I've ever met. We had him for 15 years. He was a true gentle giant. I could do anything to him and he'd never bite. I worked at doggy day care and sometimes dogs would try to dominate him or attack him aggressively. He'd just look at them as if they were crazy and run and jump in the pool to get away from them.

Definitely the giant breeds like Newfoundland and St. Bernard. As far as smaller dogs most shihtzu are friendly.

I have raised Dobermans for over 20 years. I have yet to come across a mean or aggressive Dobe.

I'd say Great Danes. Even though they are huge dogs they aren't very active. They think they are lap dogs. I've never met a Great Dane that wasn't gentle and super cuddly. Somehow they think they are three times smaller than they actually are!!

Australian Shepherds do well with children, horses, pigs, cows, you name it they are very loyal and wonderful dogs. My grandmother owned 3 of them and they had horses. She would tell stories of the dogs running right along side her as she was riding in the pasture and on the trails.
