How to thank a neighbor?
I'm not too good at these things. What is a good gesture for a neighbor who plows out our driveway? I'm not looking for anything sappy, just a token of appreciation.

I know how you feel, our neighbor always plows out our driveway but won't take money. We always give him a gift card at the end of the winter for Home Depot, or Wal-Mart, or even to a local restaurant(we put it in a thank you card). He always like and appreciates it.

You could bring them a nice homemade dessert. Along with a tahnk you card and a family photo. Or take them to dinner. It doesn't have to be super nice. There is no smoking in restuarnts so their either have to go outside or hold off thru out dinner, which most people should be able to do. Also don't loose touch. You never know when they could need some help like they gave you. Also keep sending school pics and if there is a school concert don't forget to invite them to come and watch.

Is there a way to return a good gesture in kind? Perhaps a nice prepared meal from time to time (since the neighbor who does such kindnesses probably has less time to prepare meals for themselves), or if you have a craft that you're good with or are good at some type of repairs. I'd think the very best gift would be a return of a nice gesture of another kind.

I nice card would be best, with a hand-written 'thank you ' inside of it. Tell them that their gesture of kindness has touched your heart and how much you appreciate it!
Wish I had a neighbor like that!

Since your neighbor uses his stuff (gas) that he has to pay for, how about...
A gift certificate to a local restaurant
A gas card
If you know something that he likes, send that.
If money is an issue for you, a hand written letter telling him how much you appreciate what he does.
An offer to help him (gardening, cutting grass, ect) if you are able to.

Get a thank you card, or a gift. You could also send him/her a e-card that says thank you. Or you could just say it in person.

there are a lot of ways to thank your neighbor and appreciation for what they had done unto you. for me, i had just delivered a box of strawberries and 2towels imprinted with my business logo. it's nothing important on the price, it matters most on how you presented the things to the person/neighbor and how you express your deep appreciation to them.
