Baby Signs?

I am attempting to use baby signs since my toddlers don't talk. Does anyone know, does it matter which hand you use? Iam left handed but my kids are right handed. I am trying to remember to use my right hand but I know instinctively I'll use my left. These signs are based on American Sign Language, so anyone with ASL experience would be able to answer too.

Yes, we're doing all the evaluations for therapy, neurological testing, etc. I just want something to use signs to start some line of communication. I'm getting desperate since my kids are 3 years old and not talking.

I don't know if this is officially correct, but when I took a baby signs class they told us you basically have to use the hand that is free, and may have to adapt two-handed signs to one hand if you carry them a lot or have one hand occupied. . But I do know some advanced signs are right or left hand specific, but probably not the ones babies use.

I too am not too sure as to the "correct hand" to use. I just followed the book and videos and they used their right hands predominately. I would follow the way the book and videos demonstrate it.

I used baby signs too and it was great.

As for your children not speaking, you are on the right track with the evals and testing. Good luck to you
