The most commonly forgotten wedding items?

Your sanity! I have seen brides lose it the second they get up on their wedding day! Keep your cool, stay organized, and enjoy the moment. It is worth more than anything else. Remember that things WILL go wrong! Expect it, mentally prepare for it, and then calmly react to it (or even ignore it depending).

Some things that come to mind that are forgotten:

-Cake cutting utensils, toasting glasses.

-Songs for your Grand Entrance, garter toss, cake cutting, etc.

-Programs for the ceremony (you'd be surprised at how often these don't make it to the church).

-A sewing kit and a friend who sews! Case in point: My MOH stepped on my gown and ripped it during pictures! I calmly looked down, said "I guess we'll have to stitch up my dress". Within 3 minutes, my *amazing* bridesmaid (thanks Cyndi!)had whipped out her sewing kit and sewed it up in 3 minutes flat.

-Breathmints, anti-blister pads for shoes, bandaids, bobby pins, hairspray, makeup for touchups.

-Stain remover, or white chalk.

-Schedules for your bridal party. You won't stick to it 100%, but you need to try.

-The rings, and assigning someone to bring the cheques or payment for the vendors afterwards.

Try to leave your marriage licencse with your minister/officiant BEFORE the big day. We did, and it was one less thing to worry about!

Lastly, don't forget to EAT at your reception, and have fun!

the license is on top of the list. #2 passports or tickets if leaving right from the reception which some people still do, also women forget their handbags in the limo, and anything that is left up 2 the groom to remember 4get it..it's not making it to where it needs to be. Advice- make a list of items you need or think you are going to need and prepare your bag(s) ahead of time. Also designate a person to be your "assistant" or brain for the day if you don't have a coordinator or planner.

Perhaps not forgotten on the 'big day', but it seems the most commonly forgotten wedding tradition is sending a thoughtful timley thank you note for wedding gifts. There's simply no excuse. Make a list of the gifts that evening if you have to so you can write thank you notes on the flight to your honeymoon. It's important to go out of ones way to properly thank their friends and family.
