How does San Antonio rate for a place to live?

Considering a move to San Antonio or perhaps Corpus Christi. I have been researching lots of areas, but Texas seems to have more opportunity and more places without snow!

On a scale of 1-10 including things to do, traffic, housing and cost of living as well as beauty. San Antonio rates about an 8 and Corpus Christi a 5. I have lived in both spots. I lived in CC for a total of 9 years and SA for a total of 19 years. I was in both places during my youth and both during my 30's. Now in my 40's, I travel to CC a lot, but always come home. The only thing that would make SA better is if we were along the water's edge. I miss the beach. But, that's all I miss. CC really has not grown as worldly as SA.

As Lalana has put so well, San Antonio is probably an 8 on the scale of places to live. It doesn't have the arts and entertainment as developed as New York, DC, or Chicago; we could use a major university (but the local private colleges are excellent and UTSA is growing and getting better and Texas A&M SA should open soon); it would be nice to have the waterfront, but we are spared the heavy summer tropical storms, and we could use better mass transit (our bus service is good but limited). Of the major cities in Texas, it is the one I would select, though Austin has some good points.

Corpus is nice, and I like to go for visits, but it doesn't provide much entertainment for singles or families.

The weather in San Antonio is less humid, but also you don't get as much of the off shore wind. Though as you said, we see snow for about 5 hours every 10 years or so.
