"Jesus" is the word that resulted when His Hebrew name was transliterated (using the phonetics of the target language to approximate the sound of the word from the original) from Hebrew to Greek to Latin back to Greek and finally to English.
Folks have been doing it for 1500 years now and old habits are hard to break. While I prefer to use His Hebrew name - I'm also pretty sure He knows Who we mean when we say "Jesus" and isn't offended.

To my knowledge, the name for Jesus is Yeshua in Hebrew.
When Christians refer to Christ, it doesn't have such a negative connotation to Jews if you say Yeshua rather than Jesus.
Also in Hebrew the names Joshua and Jesus are one: Yeshua.
Peace to all!

Why do you call him " Yeshua " instead of " Jesus " ?

Because I speak English.
Source(s): The word Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, which in turn is the transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua, or Joshua, or again Jehoshua, meaning "Jehovah is salvation." - Anonymous1 decade ago
Why are non believers obsessed with Jesus?

Maybe greek vs hebrew. Not sure, but I think it is simply a matter of language and semantics.

It's a translation of his name. Like Mary/Maria/Marie/Miriam/Maryam are all the same name, but in different languages.
"Christ" isn't his name - it is a title.
