How many atheists have and do still?
Attend religious ceremonies and belong to a religious group but actually are atheist and do not even believe in god(s)? But for fear of being ostracized and loosing the only community they've ever known, just continue to go along with it and keep their months shut.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJehovah witness or Mormon, which religion is older?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIf Christians are so empowered by their voting by being the current majority?
What will happen if the majority becomes Muslim and they start voting in laws that differ from Christian ideals. Would they be so willing to defend the privilege to vote laws that are discriminatory if it took away their rights as equals?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIf "marriage" is trademarked by god?
And this somehow means homosexuals should be denied the term marriage, then how do people feel about Buddhists using that term, since many (iif not most) do not believe in a creator abrahmic god either.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoAre religious people afraid of the unknown?
Does religion give them a false sense of security as well as imparting them with secret knowledge only meant for them. Somehow making them feel special and protected.
Do try refute skepticism simply so they can keep their world nice and tidy with no unknowns to frighten
them?
Do they think they are so fragile without their beliefs that their lives would just crumble apart? Maybe they need lessons in self esteem.

Which one is the most influential and potentially dangerous in their teachings?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow can a "atheist" be spiritual?
I am a nontheist or rationalist, whichever term you prefer.
But I often hear from other people, that they identify themselves as "atheist" but that does not mean they are not spiritual.
To be honest this confuses the heck out of me. What do mean exactly, and is it even possible to be both?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it okay to question the facts of the holocaust?
I don't deny the holocaust happened, (I'm sure it did) I just sometimes wonder about the actual numbers or that some of the stories told seems a bit hard to believe. Like one story has 1000 people being put into a 10 meter by 10 meter room, I don't think this would be physically possible.
How do you do it though, without sounding or being portrayed as Anti-Semitic?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy must atheists also be scientists?
I mean atheism simply means non-belief in god(s)...
If you were to inform me that you are a millionaire and I ask for proof, or otherwise, I would not believe you, would I have to be an accountant before I can claim non-belief?
29 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes Canada have more atheists than USA?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoThe four solaces in buddhism .. sounds like Pascal's Wager. What do you think?
The Four Solaces:
"'Suppose there is a hereafter and there is a fruit, result, of deeds done well or ill. Then it is possible that at the dissolution of the body after death, I shall arise in the heavenly world, which is possessed of the state of bliss.' This is the first solace found by him.
"'Suppose there is no hereafter and there is no fruit, no result, of deeds done well or ill. Yet in this world, here and now, free from hatred, free from malice, safe and sound, and happy, I keep myself.' This is the second solace found by him.
"'Suppose evil (results) befall an evil-doer. I, however, think of doing evil to no one. Then, how can ill (results) affect me who do no evil deed?' This is the third solace found by him.
"'Suppose evil (results) do not befall an evil-doer. Then I see myself purified in any case.' This is the fourth solace found by him.
Is it just me, or does this sound like Pascal's Wager????

Just curious, no undertones, just a question.

17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes anyone here know if Darwin created the term "evolution".?
I mean did the word "evolution" exist in the human lexicon before he wrote his book?
If not, then why do creationists think they can determine a different definition of the word, other than how it was introduced and outlined.
Darwin's theory of evolution never pretended to know how the universe began, it only attempted to explain how human beings may have evolved, using the evidence of the day. And since, it has so far proven correct.
Why do creationists insist that it includes the Big Bang... when Darwin clearly did not even discuss such beginnings.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat country were your born in, and what are your religious views (or lack thereof)?
I am Canadian and an atheist (realist)...
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDetails inside.?
I viewed a CNN report comparing Islamic Terrorist tactics for "educating and recruiting" in their countries to the Nazi Regime tactics.
I then posted a question asking people if they agree or disagree. No views were implied in the question. I included a link to the CNN report on Youtube (not sure if that is a violation, so i won't do it again, unless specifically asked for it)
My previous question was deleted.. but I would like to repeat it.
Do you agree or disagree that Islamic Terrorists are using the tactics employed by Nazi's? This questions stems from a CNN news report...
