Jetstream moves from west to east. Same thing happens when going from LA to Hawaii (5:30 Hours) and Hawaii to LA (only 5:00 hours).

Ever notice watching nightly national weather reports that storm fronts usually travel from the west coast to the east?

Its all because of the super high wind currents at high altitude (Jetstream). This is why you don't see storms hit the East coast then travel through the Midwest on the way to the West coast. Never happens.

All air traffic going from west to east has a high wind at their backs increasing speed (and saving gas). When going from east to west the plane has to travel against this wind slowing it down.

The shortest routes between the West Coast and Asia greater or less persist with the northern seashores of the Pacific Ocean. they seem curved on a flat map, yet on a globe, they're actual the shortest distances between those 2 factors. Going to Asia via using Hawaii could be a a good distance longer distance.

Air currents. With a tail wind that you get when coming from Asia to US you travel faster.

Due to the clockwise rotation of the Earth, a tail wind is generated, resulting in greater speed when flying west to east.
