Why did Obama supporters pressure S.C. to keep Colbert off the ballot?

To get on the ballot, a candidate had to demonstrate two requirements: that he or she was viable nationally and had spent time campaigning in the state.
The majority of voters said Colbert, host of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," did not meet the standard of national viability. A candidate that runs in the primary of only one state could hardly meet that standard.
The quarrel with having Colbert's name on the ballot was pragmatic rather than political. In deciding which candidates to allow in the primary, the state Democratic Party also had to consider that for every name on the ballot, they would have to pay $20,000 to the state election commission.

Because they know they need the young vote desperately to beat Clinton. The young, being fickle about politics, may have gone out to vote for Colbert instead of Obama. Seriously.

if the guy doesn't want to actually be president, what would be the point other than a waste of time and money? And especially if he wins in the state, he is wasting other people's time and money.
There shouldn't have needed to be any pressure, I like Colbert, but doing it was nothing but a waste of time.

because obama's support comes largely from the youth group. and most young people get their news from the daily show and colbert report. colbert is very popular with the younger crowds and some would vote for a joke. if colbert were to run this would put wasted votes for colbert where as it would have gone to obama.

Even better, in Iowa his staff went to college campuses a month ago and handed out flyers urging out-of-state students to participate in the caucus (or more acurately-The cacas). Seeing as he is a ward politician from Chicago nothing should surprise us.
Forgive Kevin (above) he is another of the living dead liberals who embrace the tax and spend demon-crats.
