If Ted Stevens loses in Alaska?
Will he blame it on Bob Bird from the Alaska Independence Party who has won 4.1% of the vote so far or 10913 votes.
Wouldn't it be funny if the people Sarah Palin sucked up to for votes kept her from being able to become Senator when Stevens is booted from Congress because he is a convicted felon.
4 AnswersElections1 decade agoWho should get a bailout? AIG or GM?
I realize they all suck and made plenty of mistakes but AIG has shown how they will spend the money this weekend.
I would rather give money to keep American jobs instead of making more bankers wealthier.
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow many McCain/Palin supporters volunteered for his campaign?
I only ask because I held an Obama sign at the Voting Site for several hours in a state considered to be a battleground state and never saw a McCain sign.
I did see several Libertarian Candidate signs.
9 AnswersElections1 decade agoCan you get DirectTV without a land line?
We are trying to cut costs and have canceled our land line to use our cell phones exclusively. The DirectTV pricing seems much more competitive than Comcast but my interpretation of the web site says I need a land line.
4 AnswersTVs1 decade agoWould you be surprised if Obama wins Arizona?
Right now McCain has only a 4 percent lead in the Arizona polls.
8 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhen will Yahoo fix their spell checker? Obama and Palin are real words!!!!!?
Obama has been running for the presidency for almost 2 years. He is the Democratic Candidate. I should not be being told that I misspelled his freakin' name and Yahoo wants to change it to Osama.
I should be able to type Palin for the Republican vice presidential candidate's name and not be told the name should be Plain.
Curiously Joe the Plumber does not cause a misspelling.
Any other words they should fix while they are at it?
3 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs it ethical for McCain to get two free Portable Cell Phone Towers for his ranch. ?
He is a member of the Senate Commerce Committee which oversees the FCC and telecommunications industry and asked A T & T and Verizon to give him free cell towers for his ranch. Not surprisingly they gave him anything he wanted.
Exclusive: Verizon and AT&T Provided Cell Towers for McCain Ranch - Washington Post Investigations
"Early in 2007, just as her husband launched his presidential bid, Cindy McCain decided to resolve an old problem -- the lack of cellular telephone coverage on her remote 15-acre ranch near Sedona, nestled deep in a tree-lined canyon called Hidden Valley.
By the time Sen. John McCain's presidential bid was in full swing this summer, the ranch had wireless coverage from the two cellular companies most often used by campaign staff -- Verizon Wireless and AT&T.
Verizon delivered a portable tower know as a "cell site on wheels" -- free of charge -- to Cindy McCain's property in June in response to an online request from Cindy McCain's staff early last year. Such devices are usually reserved for restoring service when cell coverage is knocked out during emergencies, such as hurricanes."
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs there such a thing as a Team of Mavericks?
Merriam Webster says a Maverick is :
1: an unbranded range animal ; especially : a motherless calf
2: an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party
I assume Mrs. Palin is referring to the 2nd definition.
To quote the immortal Indigo Montoya:
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

U.S. Officials Defend Iraq's Oil Surplus, Could Have Oil-Fed Budget Surplus Of $79 Billion, But They're Still Rebuilding With U.S. Dollars -
"We're being taken for fools by the Iraqi government that continues to take in American money to pay for their reconstruction.

I think the tumbling dominoes that are the Wall Street Financial Firms will continue to fall.
Should we Extract ourselves from our war(s) or Save our economy.
Maybe the Iraqi's can use their surplus to buy some of the failing banks.

Is it really safe to have your 4 month old child holding your child in the middle of a bunch of screaming political types for an extended time.
This isn't really about Politics but about parenting which is what most hockey moms know about.
3 AnswersElections1 decade agoDoesn't the case of Nataline Sarkisyan display why Edwards is right about Corporate Interests in Government?
Nataline Sarkisyan was a 17 year girl who lived in California. She had leukemia and under the direction of her doctors had a bone marrow transplant from her brother. Complications from the transplant caused her liver to fail. Her doctors agreed that she had a 65% chance for success with the liver transplant.
A matching liver was found, the operation was scheduled and then CIGNA denied the transplant (twice). The family and her community rallied for her in front of the CIGNA headquarters and finally were told that CIGNA would allow the operation but by that time it was too late and Nataline died.
The story has been on the national news and after Edwards discussed it during the Iowa Caucus (Clinton mispronounced the girls first name as Natalie) was contacted by the Sarkisyan family. They spoke at an Edwards rally (which I attended) this afternoon.

9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre the Republicans in big trouble this year?
In Iowa Obama, Edwards and Clinton had more votes individually than Huckabee's winning caucus amount.
This is in a state that is generally considered a safe Republican stronghold.
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoI can wait 8 years for Universal Health Care. Can America wait that long?
I can wait because I have excellent health care coverage. My 22 year daughter can't wait when she works full time and still can't afford health care and can no longer be covered by our insurance.
I realize that no one can guarantee that legislation for Universal Health Care will be passed in Congress. However it will never be passed if the plan isn't introduced to Congress.
How long will you be willing to wait for Universal Health Care:
A. By the end of Hillary's second term.
B. By the end of Obama's first term.
C. Within six months of his inauguration which is what John Edwards has proposed.
12 AnswersElections1 decade agoHow long are you willing to wait before bringing our troops home from Iraq?
Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama have indicated they are open to keeping American trainers and counterterrorism units in Iraq.
Mr. Edwards’s plan calls for immediately withdrawing 40,000 to 50,000 troops. Nearly all of the remaining American troops would be removed within 9 or 10 months. The only force that would remain would be a 3,500-to-5,000-strong contingent that would protect the American Embassy and possibly humanitarian workers.
